Hello pump my old friend
I just used my manual avent pump for the first time for ds and got 130mls from one side. Seems like heaps to me-maybe I've overdone it? It took about 10 minutes. D's is a week old today and generally will only take one side but I always Offer both. I had a massive oversupply issue with dd so am conscious of that but at the same time, I want to make sure I can express and start giving ds a bottle a day as I'll be returning to work soon.
Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas on how often or how much to express would be great. I pumped for 10 months for dd (4 of these exclusively after she refused the boob once I fell pregnant) and I had heaps of milk early on and not enough at the end. The end supply could have been pregnancy related though.
Ta in advance

For a bottle a day, your one side is enough :) I'm like you, I pump once a day and get 150ml + in about 4 minutes. I've always had a stack of milk. I too am pumping for when I go back to work 2 nights a week in the new year.
I find what works best for me is to pump in the morning. I'll feed DD (usually she'll just take the one side, if she takes the other as well I won't pump for that day), and then I'll pump the other side. I haven't tried pumping more than once in a day (aside from when I was EE), but one seems to be enough with my supply :)
ETA if you're wanting to store some and a bottle a day, I'd pump twice, one in the morning and one after last feed of the night :)

I'd still do a pump or two a day, and just use the extra for DD's milk, if she'll take it, or pop it in her weeties or whatever ... or freeze it, for when you go back to work, for your DS :)
Yay for abundance of milk!

Thanks ladies. While my milk is settling I'm going to do the one express I think but it's a great idea to do morning and night.
