I didn't know where to post this, so I hope that this is the right place.
I am just wondering about what relation your IL's family are to you.
Specifically, my brother got married recently. His wife's (my SIL's) sister sent me an FB request asking me to confirm that I am now part of of her family. FB is asking me to confirm the relationship. So who is this woman to me? Is she my SIL? My cousin? What...?
It is lovely (or creepy depending on your point of view!) that they want to include you.
I don't think there is an actual relationship as such so I would say she is a 'cousin'.

No relationship . I'd deny that should of thing. SIL BIL grandparents and immediate family is my limit for FB. I don't bother with cousins even though most of mine are on FB.

I had someone request the same thing, it was dh's cousin so no relation of mine but she sent a request that we were cousins. I have ignored it for about a year, the request is still sitting there.
My mum counts my dad's brothers' wives as her SILs, and he counts her brothers' wives the same, but they've all been part of the family they don't really stress about definitions. I, on the other hand, have a hard time referring to my in-laws as family at all, so their husbands/wives/girlfriends/f-buddies don't even rate on my radar :lol:

I think it's down to the individual family. Technically I don't think there is a 'relationship' as such? so it is up to you how you want to class her. If it's going to be a drama, listing her as a cousin might be the simplest option.
Teni I call my hubbie's sisters partners bil/sil as we are close, but the cousin isn't even one we see! I agree you need to be close to see the relationship is

I am actually really flattered that this lady wants to include me as family, so didn't want to offend her by calling her the wrong thing. As there is no official name for our relationship to each other I might just ask her what she wants to be called. :)
I don't think they see the relationship type you have selected, just that you are part of the family
