Freezing methods and freezer friendly foods etc

DH bought us another freezer! :D

Now to cook freezer friendly meals - any favourite recipes you have to freeze, evening meals, snacks, deserts etc - anything, please share ;)!

Oh, also what is NOT freezer friendly :lol:.

And I'm also just wondering, I have little Tupperware - I'm wondering if its best to invest in Tupperware (freezer mates - etc) or is any good old thing ok to use? Ideally I'd like to use the same container to freeze the food in, microwave it and eat from it....Any recommendations??

Potato's not so great, anything with a sauce is good.

I give most things a crack in the freezer, but we're not really meat and 3 vege people.

There's a site on FB called Frost Bite which is really good.

I agree - steer clear of spuds in the freezer. I also don't freeze cooked pasta or rice. I freeze everything BUT that, and then fresh cook/boil to add to the soon-to-be-defrosted meal as I am ready to eat it.

We have sausage rolls, pasta sauces, lasagna, mac cheese, casseroles, soups, zucchini slice, chicken strog to name a few.

I think I mentioned it in your other thread but we use a vac sealer. Depending on the size you can freeze portions or whole meals in the bags. You can reheat either by snipping a corner and microwaving, or by simmering on the stove. Then you just empty onto plate :D Tastes like I just made it! And things can get frozen flat which makes it easier for stacking and storing.

So looks like i don't necessarily need to spend $$$ on Tupperware then eh? DH will be happy lol!

We cook up big meals every 3-4 weeks and freeze them. So casseroles, lasagna, cottage pies, bolognase sauce, soups.

I've moved away from plastics, even BPA free plastics, so I buy freezable glass containers like Pyrex. They cost more, so I buy one of two everytime we do a supermarket shop to build up the supply. I won't put anything hot near plastic as it releases toxins.

Thanks tashybabe - I didn't know Pyrex was freezer friendly! I have a few pyrex dishes floating around, yippee!!
