Broken Nose - Pain?

DD2 broke her nose on Monday and still seems to be getting quite a bit of pain, will it be painful until the swelling goes down?

I have been keeping up the nurofen and panadol as required but find she is sooking in her sleep, is very clingy during the day to the point yesterday i spent a couple of hours onh the couch with her as she screamed the house down the minute i moved.
The first 2 nights she woke up screaming the house down until nurofen kicked in.

Is there anything else i can do to help her, we havea DR's appt for her in a weeks time, even if it looks straight i'm still going to take her in as she's very nasaly (?) and is snoring really badly.
Swelling is dropping and you can see where it's crooked and the bruising is BAD :(

broken bones usually take 6 weeks to heal. I've broken my 4 times (hockey). Sounds like your daughter has a clean break (across the bridge of her nose?) It will ease up after a week or 2 and probably feel 100% after 4 weeks.

Laying down will put added pressure on it, increasing the pain. She will probably be more comfortable sleeping upright. She is probably also rolling on it in her sleep, poor thing.

Thx ladies, she slept upright on me yesterday and was still crying, hopefully the Dr confirms it all next week :(

it has codeine in it, the night one has a sedative, its for 2+ but DD had it on Dr's ok at 16 months (reduced dose) for chronic ear infections

My two suffered for quite a few days after theirs. Her bruises are pretty spectacular. Though mine only suffered when they layed down or knocked it. With that much pain I might be a little concerned about an unstable fracture. Sometimes the swelling initially makes it hard to see.

The being nasally and the snoring are normal due to the swollen passages. They should abate as it goes down.

Her bruises are quite impressive aren't they :( poor munchkin!

Poor love!!!

ZF, enjoy the break from the domestic duties and just give Z lots of mummy cuddles. Hope it all settles soon. I'd be looking into the pain stop idea... we're breaking that out next time DD gets mouth ulcers... she whimpers and cries in her sleep too, when she gets them. Its horrible.

Will check the chemist tomorrow & explain, the swelling is going down & her nose looks worse now. Poor chicken.
