wanting a VBAC but baby is transverse :(

Had an ultrasound today to check placenta position (I had grade 2 previa) well I was so excited to hear it had moved! BUT the not so friendly ultrasound guy tells me bub is transverse with back facing downwards and head on my right and bum on the left. I am so so stressed now. I am terrified of another c section, I just want to experience childbirth!!! any advice on what to do? I have checked the spinning babies, anyone else have a transverse bub that moved this late in the game? or did you get a manual manipulation done?

No advice hun. Just wondering of you were told "thats it, the bub won't turn now" ... I was always under the impression the baby can still turn even at 36 weeks :dunno:

Firstly massive hugs, I recently went thru a similar thing. I wanted a vbac but my baby turned slightly sideways at 40 weeks! At 39 weeks he was head down. I had a cs but I figure if my baby moved that late so can yours. Don't give up hope Hun! You could try acupuncture to assist...I think they do moxibustion. And fwiw
Y dd was breech until 39 weeks and then turned :)

My sister had a transverse bub that kept flipping right up until delivery; mine got stuck transverse and I had a CS at 38 weeks.
Do you have any idea of how long bub has been sideways?

A friend recently gave birth to her little boy, who until a couple of days before was consistently changing from footling breech to head down... and she was told she would definitely be having a c-section, but gave birth vaginally after a 9hr labour

Hi hun, I had a transverse bubba till pretty much the end (38 weeks I had him) luckily he turned just before. He was head down from 24 weeks, then went transverse on me for aaaaaaaaages. If I was on one side I was squashing his head if I turned on the other side I was squashing his butt. Either way he told me he wasn't happy!! GL !!!

My bubba was transverse so I headed off to the pool to do some handstands. This stretches the uterus and encourages the baby to move. Within a week bubs was heads down..

My DS2 was transverse up until I was induced. He went head down and my Dr yelled "Induce this woman so the little bugger can't turn again" lol. BTW I was over 38 weeks and he ended up being 4.4kgs and 57cm long. So there is still time for bubs to move even if you end up with a big one :)

wow thanks girls I had no idea! I have been doing the inversion couch thingy from the spinning babies website and have next appointment on wednesday so hopefully it will turn. I don't know how long bub has been this way, I would say a while though coz I have been feeling the same movements for weeks, what I don't get though is I get kicked right in the cervix and really low as well so if it is so "sideways" as he said how can I get these painful cervix punches! Anyway will keep my fingers crossed!

Maybe you have a boxer as well as a kicker! DS would oscillate between breech and transverse - all the better for bopping as many bits as possible!
