Chest infection/ pneumonia

I took mr 1 to the dr this morning his symptoms are very tired coughing wheezing temps very unhappy! She gave him antibiotics for a chest infection, he has not eaten for two days and really only breastfeeding which is probably more comfort!! I am worried he has pneumonia how do I tell the difference, should I take him for a second opinion or just wait it out another 24 hours!!! He was up about 6 times last night very unsettled!!!

I couldn't tell that DD had pneumonia at all. Can you take him to the hospital??
The antibiotics will help, as DD was given them for pneumonia.

I was told that if there was any change in her condition (ie wheezing, more coughing, etc) to take her straight to the hospital.

ANY type of change you see you need to head straight to the hossy. Pnemonia can be deadly in little ones (sorry to be dramatic but it's true). BReathing difficulties, change in temps, more wheezing etc.

I didn't know when my DD had pnemonia..

She went downhill really fast.. She was running around one minute, then totally lethargic an hour later..

When P had pneumonia in May it was dignosed through her chest x-ray. Her chest sounded clear but the x-ray showed it wasn't.
Symptoms were cold symptoms, high temp and very lethargic & unhappy. I thought she had tonsilitis but they were clear. That's when the GP ordered the x-ray just to be sure. The radiographer sent her straight back to the GP, who sent her to hospital.
You can always ask the GP for referral for an x-ray. If you have it privately you can just walk in and get it done. You might be out of pocket some $$ though, but I thought it was well worth it.

X-ray is the only way to be sure. If you can afford it and are stil worried then its good for peace of mind- or to catch it early if your right.
Antibiotics can sometimes take 3 days before you start to see a real diference. I wish they would give out more IV for the little 1s- even a loading dose then liquid at home. Here they give out IV all the time because kids die from the sicknesses, also you can request it if you think your kids weak/ had it before etc.
I would keep a close eye on your child and any change for the worse go straight to hospital.
