Kids say the darndest things...

Tonight DD was on the loo with DH waiting patiently to see if there was fire following the smoke ;)

I'd put DS down and poked my head in to see if everything was ok (they'd already been to do wees once in the bedtime routine...) and DH said that he'd taken her back to the loo because she told him "There is something coming out of my penis"!!!!!!

He had to explain to her that she doesn't have a penis, only boys have penises! I think its been on her mind as DS seems to have developed an obsession with his bits and we are forever telling him to stop touching his penis!

I had to walk away and have a good laugh at that one...

I know this has been done before but let's trot out the new gems. What has your LO said recently that's given you pause or caused a bit of mirth???

The other day we were watching TV and a lady was swimming with the dolphins and I said to DD "Mummy has swam with the Dolphins when I was younger" to that she said "No Mummy - you cant swim withe the Dolphins - your to FAT!" and she was dead serious..... :/ Lucky I have just started weight watches again! LOL

DD's favourite book at the moment is Anthony Browne's "Little Beauty". Except she asks for "Little Booty" :lol:

The best part came when she was telling DH what she said and she added - she has hairy legs like a warthog (in her Hello baby book there is a worthog) - so basically Im a fat hairy worthog! LOL :)

At work one of our nearly 4 year olds broke his arm at home last weekend. I was telling the group to suggest we send him a get well card - I was explaining how he broke it and someone asked if he had it in one of those thingies that hold it up (a sling) - yes he probably does. Mr 5 piped up with the most deadpan serious look on his face "is he in a wheelchair?" It was priceless.

DD1 didn't exactly make me giggle the other day, but it was one of those 'damn kids!' moments... we were walking out of the shopping centre and an elderly man was sitting out front on his mobility scooter... DD1 points and yells, 'HEY LOOK MUM, THERE'S AN OLD MAN!' *facepalm*... I was apologising profusely and chastising DD1 and trying to tell her it was rude to point and say things, especially so loudly, thankfully the man took it pretty well and had a bit of a chuckle... poor DD1 was so confused as she didn't understand why it was 'rude' to point out what she saw as being bleedingly obvious, but I was soooo mortified :/
I find we're having to have these 'tact' discussions quite frequently at the moment, she seems to be unable to stop herself declaring that people are 'old' or 'fat' or 'short' or whatever... eep!

It wasn't my child (thank god) but we took DS to the park a couple of weeks ago, DH and I. I was swinging on the swing while DH chased DS around and I had a little girl of maybe 5 or 6 come over and join me. She looked me up and down and asked me if I was pregnant (at this point I had had numerous comments on how massive I am so I was a bit over it, even if she was only 6) and I replied "gosh, I hope so... Otherwise I'm just really fat!"
The little girl looked at me quite sheepishly and said "it's ok, my mum is just really fat too"
whoops! :o

DS1 and daddy have recently started telling each other 'scary' stories. After one of his stories DH asked DS if it was scary enough, DS replied: 'That didn't scare my brave away daddy! :D

Same! DD2 points at people in the street and yells "That's FAT!" The other day she dropped something and went "Oh For crying out loud's sake!"

At least I know my attempts to not swear are working :lol:

The tact discussion reminds me of a time when DD was about 3 or 4 and we were at the pools - she was playing with a little Aboriginal boy and his mum and I were just watching semi-chatting (didn't know each other but the kids were having fun) - DD comes over and asks the boy's mum "scuse me, why is your skin that funny colour?"

She and I looked at each other, laughed and she then explained that it was because of her race etc - got to love the innocence of children hey :)
