Molasses

Is regular molasses as good as black strap? I can get full flavour or mild flavour, also grape molasses.
What is the best kind to use for kids and babies

For use in baking and cooking. Slow cooker, homemade rusks, fruit cakes-breads, muffins even smoothies if it tastes okay
My mum has suggested it because its high in iron and myself and DS2 have absorbtion problems so packing extra nutrients into our meals and treats.
