Parents of happy chuckers.... ADVICE NEEDED

DD2 is a huge (massive lol) chucker. Some days are better than others. My question is, when I feed her (she is fully breastfed and a month old) and she has a huge spew (drenching her clothes, dispite the spew cloths covering them), do I feed her again? Generally I dont but she takes a while to settle after a spew (or 4.. :o) but still settles fine, eventually and sleeps until a feed a couple hours later. IF I do feed her again (more of a top up) after a couple of huge spews, she usually just chucks that up too. So fighting a loosing battle really?!?!

Im leaning more toward the "no you dont feed her again". Its hard because she chucks such massive amounts. In no way though the spew is causing her discomfort. Maybe shes just a guts?

given her weight gains i probably wouldnt worry hun.
if shes rooting for a feed after her spews and seems hungry then go for it, but if not, just keep doing what you're doing :)

I didn't unless she was asking for it or seemed hungry. Generally though she was fine. I found that frequent breaks and regular burping throughout the feed session helped reduce the amount ejected at the end of the feed though.

You probably only have a few more months left of it - she will grow out of it and soon it will be a distant memory :D

You mean advice other than always pack three changes of clothes for her and at least one spare top for you? And a towel!
We had less chucking after feeding lying down - I think it may have enabled him to feed a bit slower and stop before he was over-full.
I would offer again half an hour to a hour later (if he was awake), but not immediately.

Oh you have my sympathies. No one believed me when I told them how much DS spewed until they saw it for themselves. I would never feed again afterwards, and he seemed to get to the next feed with no worries. So as long as the weight gain is there I wouldn't bother refeeding.

I ended up having a bucket/container next to me when I fed and I could catch the spew. Saved the towels, bibs, my clothes, his clothes, couch etc.

I would just follow her cues. I've had a couple of spewers and found it easier to just let them decide if they wanted another feed after a spew or not.

I had a couple of happy chuckers, I invested in the old fashioned cloth nappies to use as chuck rags :)
If weight gain is fine, then I wouldn't offer again after the spew unless she wants more.

I didn't feed DS1 again after his spews. He never asked for more so I figured he was just drinking way more than he could possibly have needed. I know it looks like there couldn't be anything left in their belly, but there is. If she is growing well and settles fine then don't worry.

We never fed dd again, unless she was showing signs of being hungry but she would normally chuck and then sleep. We always had cloth nappies on hand when feeding too, we would surround her in them, have them on our shoulders to try and stop the constant changing of clothes.

Today is quite a full on chucky day so I have had to use full size towels to catch the spew rather than the terry flats I was using.

Im not too phased with her chuckiness TBH, DD1 was also a huge chucker and it went at 6 months. So I know it does stop eventually and only seems bad atm because Im living in the moment iykwim. Just wasnt sure whether or not to feed her again as shes a feed, play, sleep kind of kid (otherwise she spews constantly over her bed ;) ) . Ill just follow her cues as suggested and if it seems she needs a little more before being put to sleep, I will offer. She loves her booby though and is the type of kid to drink, even if shes not hungry. HENCE all the spew!!! I dont trust her at all to tell me when shes full lol.

You are doing a great job there! Another thing I did was use the terry flats on top of the sheet they lay on, saved on sheets :)

DD#2 was a happy chucker - I found that keeping her upright for 20-30mins after a feed helped heaps :)

Sounds like youre doing a great job though!
