Breathing problems

Not sur eif this is the right place to post- sorry mods if its not

Sophie has always has issues with milk comng out her nose due to reflux and problems breathing -from I thought the milk. But the last week she has been waking up hysterical cause she cant breathe and nose seems to be blocked. I have tried a burner with just water, then water and some tea tree oil, I have used vicks baby rub, having her in the shower with me before bed, putting a drop of warm water in her nose then suction, nothing seems to be working. Sometimes it comes right of its own accord, sometimes she sneazes and it comes right, other times she just sobs back to sleep. She doesnt have a cold but the night temps are low teens st the mo and with colder weather on the way Im starting to get worried.
Anybody been through this? any ideas?

It sounds like a trip to the GP and getting a referral for an ENT or a Paediatric Gastro enterologist if it's and airway thing linked to the reflux. The GP may even suggest an X-ray first to check it out.

We can go straight to ENT here thanks, thats a better choice then starting the the ped dr who is nice but... DH is hesitant- I thik he's just worried there may be something really wrong.

I'd definately get it checked out. And the only other suggestion i could make which may or may not have any effect would to elevate her mattress.

You sound like you are in the States. A paediatric gastrenterologist here is not a normal paedatrian. He specialises in Gut and oesphogus problems only and not your garden variety Paediatric concerns.
When I booked my DS2 the receptionist was asking me what I was being referred for as she wanted to make sure DS2 was seeing the right sort of paediatric specialist.

If you can get right into an ENT then I would. It may help ease your husbands mind too.

Nah hun, in China. Here all the drs keep telling "all babys have reflux its normal" and "just hold her upright after feeding" and nobody gives a rats behind.
This is my 2nd with reflux and by far the worst but cant do anything about it- drives me crazy. We'll go see the ENT after lunch and see what they say- hoping its not adnoids- google can be bad sometimes :lol:

That's great you can get into an ENT just like that! Good luck. My DS2 also had grommets put in and adenoids removed via the ENT, poor little one has managed to have anything and everything. He sees the paed gastro for another thing.

Here, you dont have GPs everybody goes to the hospital and you work out whats wrong with you- go see that dr. Sore throat- go staright to ENT, tummy- go to gastro etc its not a bad system but it does mean that the hospital is busy and you can get all kinds of other sickness from other people :lol:

I think see an ENT as well. I've had breathing issues my whole life and found out I have a deviated septum which reduces the airflow through one nostril.

I don't know if you can get Baby Fess drops or spray over there but we've used that. It's saline and after you've put it into the nostrils, you then use an aspirator to 'suck' out anything caught in there. It sounds gross but is effective! I'd be getting her checked too though if you can.

ENT was too full of sick people this afternoon, we'll go at 8am tomorrow. Another night of very little sleep, sigh.

Stil havent got into ENT, its just so busy this time of year. Saw a ped dr and she prescibed some antibiotic cream for inside her nose ??? and some medicine for her tummy- i need to google a translation to find out if its really suitable- DS2 was given this in hsopital before to stop vomitting so Im a tad sus. Hope tomorrow we can get in. suspect the colder weather is partly responsible for the blockage- in warmer weather the goo would stay liquid and come out.
