Breastfeeding and HPT accuracy
Hi :)
I am currently demand feeding my 7mth old daughter. She feeds at least once overnight and however often she needs through the day.
We (read: DH) does not want any more children, where as I am happy either way. (I have extreme baby bump envy, but that's a whole other thread - possibly blog post!)
About 2 weeks ago I went to the dr about something else and mentioned my nausea. It comes in waves, but it's not constant nor consistent. I'm not worried I'm pregnant, I'm probably not. Without being too detailed, there may have been a 'slip' on DH's part, but not a big 'slip' iykwim ;) That dr said that it's probably my period trying to return, but as I'm still breastfeeding it's conflicting. Basically, I can stop bf and let things return or just deal with it. He'd rather I hang in with breastfeeding.
I did a hpt on Friday (can't remember what brand. It's still in date, but I've had it from when I tested when i was pregnant with DD). Now. The one line is showing fantastically clear. Take a quick look and it's a definite NOT PREGNANT. But I can see a slight 2nd blue line. It is ever so slight, and I can't manage to photograph it.
I have another appt with the doctor today, but just how likely is the hpt to be wrong? Does the breastfeding require some hcg hormone and that's why there is an ever ever so feint line, is it wrong (can they be wrong?) or am I just trying to read what's not there?
Thanks,
scone
