Chuggington Interactive Toys?

I found some chuggington interactive rail set toys on sale so I got some as ds loves chuggington already even though he's a bit young for some it atm :) I jumped online to see what else they had with the set and came across the die-cast stuff which has loads of cool carts to attach behind the die-cast train engines but the die-cast range is not compatible with the interactive ones as the train engines are much smaller. But I was wondering if anyone has both and if the die carts still attach to the interactive engines? Even though they are smaller I'd like to get the die-cast Mtambos safari carts for example to attach to the Mtambo interactive engine.

Sorry no specific info on the chuggington range but thought I would let you know that the thomas the tank engine sets can all be different and its a pain in the:shhh: Seriously why cant they make all the products the same to make it easier on the parents.
If you can..... try buying just the one cheapie and see if it works?

Thanks MummaBee :) ds doesn't have any Thomas but I had heard that they don't mix together either which is a pain! I was going to get one cheapie from on line but wanted to get a few things to save on postage ;) I will call the manufacturer on Monday but wanted to know today (cause I'm impatient)

nope, they don't go together. Different track and train sizes.

Man that's so annoying! I had a look in store and of course they are in a packet so you can't hook them up to see anyway. But if they are a different track then I guess there's no point hooking up a diecast cart to an interactive engine anyway. Far out I'm now obsessed with the interactive Chuggington stuff lol. I know I'm more excited about it then my ds is as he's too little to play with it all yet. I've found out that they are not going to be making it any more and are moving into the wooden rail set and I've found heaps of other groovy engines over seas and rail stations. Wish they had them in Australia too, they are a bit pricey.

We have the interactive ones.. DS got 2 sets for his birthday (he was 2).. And the trains on this will outlast the younger Thomas ones when it comes to interest. Thomas will always have the Thomas factor, but these trains do more.

DH wants to get a really good Thomas set when DS is older and looks after things a bit better, but just quietly, I prefer Chuggington..

Chuggington is way better! Much more colourful and fun and has so much more energy in it. ds is only little so doesn't watch that much tv but I think he's only even seen Thomas once or twice. my dh likes Chuggington much better too so there will be arguments in our house. I also got ds a Chuggington doona cover when he was 8 months old :) We co sleep but we bought a good double bed for his room so the doona cover is on that. Did your ds play with it ok when he was 2 or do you think they really need to wait until they are 3? I dont' want ds to wreck it iykwim. I expect damage but not destruction lol

We've got the interactive and just hate the track! It doesn't stay together properly and the higher up parts don't stay on the support posts very well. And the trains don't seem to talk to each other as much as they did at first.

We've got lots of chuggington and I agree about the tracks, they are crapola :( I saw wooden chuggington tracks in toys r us a little while ago, but I think they had different trains again for them, like the thomas ones with magnets to join them together.

Heh heh maybe! Or maybe they've just given up trying to get a word in around my DS! Yeah we've ended up putting the higher up parts away for awhile and just using the flat bits. The track's less interesting but at least it stays together a bit more.

I don't see why glue wouldn't work, as long as you don't want to change the set up..

DS pulls the track apart and cause it doesn't go together too easy, I took it down cause he was getting too frustrated.. But, I just tried the train on an ikea wooden track, and it fits really well and he can build that one, so I think I will get that out for him..

That's not good news about the tracks, Luckily I bought everything on sales at prices better than half price. Maybe all these kinds of dramas is why they aren't going to be making it anymore? If we end up having to glue the track together I'm not fussed but it is fun to be able to change it around. Maybe just gluing some parts if need be would still be ok. Anyway I've decided to go all out and grab some more trains from OS :D

We have the chuggington doohna cover too have you been able to make it soft im struggling ours still feels like its been in the sun and gone stiff

Big Chugger fans here, DS has the entire die cast set, and three interactive chuggers, he is getting 3 more for christmas

The only ones that are compatable with Thomas is the wooden collection, they fit on the Thomas tracks and join together with the magnets - We have a Wilson, Koko and Brewster in the wooden set for that reason

DS loves loves loves his die cast set (much more than the interactive ones) and plays with them endlessly, his favourite is Action Chugger. He is also getting a few of the diecast track playsets for christmas which is exciting for all of us :)

I saw a Chuggington bike at Toys R Us for $50 which I plan to get for his 3rd birthday too :)

MummaBee, I just washed it? I know some washing powders can leave your washing stiffer then others? I use Melaluca the Wellness Company and I probably used a fabric softener. You could also dry it in the drier rather than on the clothes line? I got mine from Target, it's got Koko, Wilson and Brewster on the front and it says Ride the Rail on the top and the reverse side is redc with little pics of them.

MummyNaomi YAY for Chuggington! Do you think your DS likes the die-cast more because he's got more of them? I like the fact that the diecast range has a cary case :) But as I mentioned I got these on sale so I probably would have ended up with Interactive anyway. So far I've got Train stops Quary, Wash station and the repair station, then I've got the bridge and tunnel set and the straight and curve track set plus the elevated track set. Engines so far are Koko, Wilson, Brewster, Action, Chatsworth, Frostini, M'tambo & Harrison. I'm going to track down Dunbar & Irving somewhere so I'll have all of them in the interactive set YAY. Plus I've found the around chuggington set on line for a good price and will then have the launch station too woothoot hehehhe.

Can I ask the AGE question again, what age do you think is ok to start using it, I expect a bit of wear and tear but not destruction. I was thinking of giving him the engines for his 2nd birthday and then setting up the track with stations etc for christams next year (yes I'm planning way in advance LOL) He would then be only 2y3m, is that still too young to now wreck the tracks/stations etc? I know it says 3+ on the box but we've given him other toys for 3+ when he was about 8 months with no problems?

We bought our DS a train table for christmas when he was 20 months old, best money we have ever spent on toys. He has been train mad ever since. He will occassionally pull the tracks apart, but mostly he puts them back together if he does

I think he likes the die case as they are a better size for his little hands Cherished - he likes his interactive chuggers but he LOVES his die cast. We have two Wilson carry cases, but we need a third, we have another 14 that wont fit in the cases. We bought some online that aren't available in Australian stores :)

Just wondering if anyone has the entire chuggington interactive train set including 'all around chuggington' the stations such as the quarry, chug wash, repair shed, other stuff like tunnels, and we even have the safari station too. DH is making a train table and I'm wondering how big it will need to be when it's all set up. I could technically open up all the boxes but what a mission just to see how large it all is! I guess I really need to know how large at least 'all around chuggington' is when it's set up and then maybe guesstimate have much more space we would need. Any help would be fantastic!
