Hip/side carry sling.
Im looking for reasonably priced (read cheap) sling that doesnt involve wrapping 10 meters of fabric aound myself that i can use to carry DD2 on my hip. i have a close carrier, which i LOVE!! but id love something for when she just wants to be carried on my hip, which is often....and shes 10kgs already so not light!
any ideas????

Wow! I found the Close Carrier hard when bub was 7 or 8kg, let alone 10. i moved on to the ergo, which i love but its not cheap to buy new. Maybe look at some second hand carriers. sorry, that's all i got!

I have the Karma baby one. Not expensive I don't think (can't really remember price) and if you can sew they have a tutorial on their website to make your own :) It's good for short periods like ducking into the shops or something but hip carriers hurt your shoulder after too long with a heavy bub.

There is a carrier made specifically for side carries called a scootababy. Haven't tried one though.
I made my own Karma sling with a pattern off their website, was pretty easy, but I'm not sure it I could hip carry heavier than 10kg

I have a manducca carrier. It is a quick conversion from front/back carry to hip carry.. And really comfy..

i carry her on my hip alot around the house and nipping into shops but she is to heavy to carry with just my arm. :)
Thanks everyone, il have a look at all of those!

I have a jazsling that I use only for hip carries when DS1 was younger. It was good in that the fabric spread out the weight over your whole shoulder area. But DS was probably 9-10kg when I was carrying him like this. Also the jazsling is sized and now I am a bit bigger it doesn't fit as well. Sorry, probably not very useful!
I am thinking of buying a Beco gemini which can do a hip carry, but not cheap.

How about a peanut shell? I've seen sale ones really cheap and they are very easy to use.
