Changing pram from bassinet to seat?

I know everyone says you should keep bub lying flat until 6 months old, but is it that super important? Izzy is 4 months and he's starting to get frustrated with just seeing the trees/ceiling/captain calamari, and I know he wants to be looking out and interacting more. Should I really leave him in the bassinet setting until he is six months, or is it ok to change it to the seat early?

ive never hear that about keeping them flat,but that could just be me. i changed dd2s pram to normal as soon as she had some head control. DD1 was sooner as she HATED the bassinet. if shes getting frustrated id say change it!!

Flat until 6 months? I've never heard that either. DD wasn't a huge fan of her bassinet so we put her into the pram seat at 9 weeks with one of those head/neck supports for infants. We had the seat reclined most of the way but it wasn't laying flat, she could easily see out, and we gradually raised her seat as she grew stronger and her neck strength improved :D

having said that about the pram, both of mine were in a sling most of the time anyway, DD1 wasnt a big fan of the pram atall! :)

Oh awesome! Yeh, I've hear it a few places, I dunno maybe it's just one of those things... I do have him in a sling a lot of the time, but he's a hot little thing and these 30+ days aren't fun! Now to find my instruction book to remember how to convert the seat...

As soon as my DD had good head control and could sit up fairly ok, she stopped being in the bassinett

I believe the 'laying flat' recommendation is more so not to leave them in a capsule/pram etc for long periods (eg hours on end) - rather than not at all.

We started using the seat attachment for our pram about the 4 month mark - DS loved it :)

Ds was never flat in his pram otherwise he'd spew everywhere.

We had DD in her normal pram seat (strider plus) just reclined until she could hold herself up...

Thanks all! I tried him in the seat the past couple of times we went out and he was so happy! He loved being able to see and talk to us, instead of being stuck looking at the ceiling. I'm sad he's growing up already though! And sad I won't get any more comments from strangers about my pram being a "real pram" lol
