specailist appt

so i have my next FS appt on friday i am scared for what he is going to say hopefully not chlomid again :wall:

i have been on it since april CLEARLY its not working...

i am dreading that he might say looks like you will have to do IVF i know nothing about it excewpt that i cant afford it :( i am really worried what he will say

also i dont understand why its been 8 months since he told me i have PCOS and we are STILL not doing anything about that????? i want my miracle please god :pray:

wonder how much longer my DH will be ok with it only been married for 12 months but I AM THE REASON WE ARE CHILDLESS he is fine so will he start to resent me :(

firstly, hugs - i know exactly where you're coming from! I had the exact same negative thoughts - including the fear that my DH would start to resent me. it took a hell of a lot to convince me that he doesn't resent me - in any way, shape or form. i'm sure your DH feels the same! it's not something you are "at fault" for - it's simply the nature of nature i guess. talk to your DH about your fears on that front - let him know how you feel. in all honesty, it's highly likely that you are resenting yourself over this - not him (well, that's what it was with me!

now, on the FS side of things!

if your primary problem is failure to ovulate, and there is no tubal blockage, there is a chance he may start you with IUI first. ovulation induction using injectables and then insemination at ovulation. it's far more controlled than using clomid (there are u/s and often BT's to check response).

our DD is an IUI baby. we did clomid, IUI, IVF, FET and back to IUI - and ultimately, 2 of our 3 AC pregnancies were from IUI's, NOT IVF/FET. the losses hurt like hell but each cycle taught us more about my body and how it responded

IUI is also a lot cheaper than IVF

Hun you and your DH have been together for YEARS i highly doubt he will start to resent you over this, it's not like your doing anything on purpose and it's something you guys need to work through together as a united front.

I know i don't know what your going through but PLEASE try and be positive atleast until you know more about whats happening, i don't want to see you stress yourself to the point where your sick.. :hug:

my FS said that if I hadn't got pregnant after 6 cycles of clomid then it wasn't going to happen that way

He gave me the two options of IUI and IVF, and I decided to go IVF even though the cost was hight, just cause the odds seemed better for me, and I guess were are lucky, both working professionals so we can afford it. But at the same time, quite a lot of the cost is covered by medicare, so maybe it's not as expensive as you think. the fertility clinic has payment plans etc, so ther may still be an option for you.

I also have PCOS, and I don't have any treatment plans or anything either, I think that as it can't be "fixed", it's just about management. as my primary issue is fertility, that's the place we have started, and perhaps that is what is happening with you as well. If I had lots of other symptoms causing concerns then we may do other things.

But no one else is going to advocate for you except you and DH, so if you are too scared to say anthing, maybe DH can for you?

I'm sure he loves you for you - you are on the journey together after all.

There are a few diffrent options before jumping to IVF. I am starting IUI this month as we have been trying for 2 years. I have just been diagnosed with PCOS and have very irregular cycles and also tried comid for 6 months, but it didn't work.

What age are you? And where is your FS based in?

I was under him, and he was pretty good. he listened - BUT - he never gave me a plan in advance! EVER. Every appointment was taken on it's own merits. we tried one thing, if it didn't work, we went back, worked out what bits were good, what were bad, and changed the plan.

My last IUI (the one that resulted in DD) he and I talked for ages about what I'd been through - what we'd tried, what we hadn't. That cycle, it was my call on the drug dosage, it was my call on the protocol. He respected that i knew my body.

obviously, when you start out, it's new and scary - but take what he tells you, come back to BB (if you want) and outline it. there are quite a number of us that have been through it, so we can break down the lingo and help you out. it will be trial and error for a while unless you are lucky enough to have a response first go. unfortunately we all respond differently...

don't be afraid to speak up if there is something you don't understand or are not comfy with. you will likely be put on the pill to give them total control of your cycle - if you've been on the pill in the past and tolerated it ok, that's great - if not, SPEAK UP! there are low dose drugs, and if you have pretty much no cycle (like i was at the time), they may look at alternatives rather than waiting on AF or manipulating your cycle

My FS (and the second opinion I got from another FS) said that basically after three cycles of either Clomir or IUI they would recommend moving onto the nest step. But like others have said, it seems to be the FS code of practice to not tell you 'the next steps' unless you ask. I am not sure why but I guess they think that each cycle should be treated as a single cycle - aiming for success rather than assuming it would fail.

I have also used Femara for ovulation induction which worked for me - clomid never did for us, I ovulated, but was never pregnant using it (but many people have of course). I would assume (without knowing your age/history) that IUI would be the next step, rather than IVF. I had a chemical pregnancy after three so IUI can work for those of us who can't ovulate on our own.

I hope your journey is short and sweet, but as others have said, there is a whole group of people who know the low-down on the fertility rollercoaster and are here to help you all the way, just as we have been helped by others :)

unfortunately Femera/Letrazole isn't easy to access for fertility treatment. it's not yet been approved in AU for that so a lot of doctors won't use it. my current gyne is one of the (he'd never heard of it being used and had to refer to the MIMS book - he can see WHY it is useful, but as it's not approved, he can't prescribe it under PBS or something like that)

I have a similar profile to you (25yrs, PCOS) and when I first went to my fs he suggested using puregon (FSH injections) rather than clomid. He explained it as clomid being the 'nice' way for me (as in don't have to jab myself) but the injections being the good way that was more likely to get results. We still use TSI rather than jumping into IUI or IVF. As it turned out my first cycle hasn't worked but this has to do with a new complication with my fallopian tubes that were found mid cycle. Im hoping we can fix this and then try OI and TSI with injections once more before moving on to something more invasive. Just thought I'd let you know this option as it may be a question you could ask if you fs wants to keep at OI.

well thanks guys so as it turns out i have male hormones secreting from the cysts into my ovaries which is why i have not ovulated yet,
sounds bad but on the other hand i know we are doin something about it now no more cholimd

i am being booked in to hospital for a laparoscopy , a hysteroscopy,ovarian drilling,

and a dye test so after this i am thinking of asking for the FSH injections to speed things up

over waiting 4 years of TTC on our own and 2 of those with FS we are soooo ready for this i want it so badly and i feel emotionally we need it to happen soon

now jsut to wait for there to be a spot at the hospital to have it done anyway from now till feb

and no brigsys girl i was under mac T but he retired i know see sherrif girgis

fair enough - Mac was pretty good! haven't heard about the other FS

hopefully you don't have a long wait for the drilling/lap surgery.
