I'm not sure when to tell DD about this baby coming along.
She is quite mature for her age and I'm sure she will be wrapped - I'm struggling keeping it from her at all.
Originally we decided to tell her as as Christmas present - I'll be about 10 weeks then.
But now I'm not sure I want to wait lol
When did you tell your children about a new brother or sister coming along?

We told DD1 when we were ready for everyone to know, she has a big mouth ;)
Straight away, before we told anyone else. The same day I did the second test (14 DPO) and it was a clear positive. We figured it was only fair - this was her little sibling, not just our child! Our DD was five.
We sat her down and said something along the lines of, you know how you've been asking for a little sister or brother for such a long time (in her case, 12 months), well, guess what. Mummy has a baby in her tummy and you'll be getting a new sister or brother sometime after Christmas.
I'll never forget the way her little face lit up. She was so excited, immediately came over to touch my tummy. I showed her each week the photo of what the baby would look like on my iPhone app. She spends more time during this pg bonding with our new baby than DP has! She also came along to the u/s and DP asked the radiographer to tell her the baby's gender first so that she could tell us.
Awwww.... I'm getting all teary just remembering!
PS I should add, we realised that once we told her the whole world would know. But TBH she didn't blab anywhere near how much we thought. She told a couple of key people at school, but it was really left up to us to tell everyone we wanted to, when we were ready.
:( about 5 weeks. Then I mc at 9. It's horrible reminding her the bub didn't stay.

My last pregnancy I really wanted to tell my DD (3.5), but decided to wait until 12 weeks. I'm glad I did as we unfortunately had a miscarriage at 9 weeks :(
This time round we told the girls after our first ultrasound at 10wks. then we kept it our family secret for 2 wks until we told everyone.
When we found out about DD2, we told DD1 immediately but I dont think it really sunk in for her until late in the pregnancy.
We took the girls then 4 & 6 to the 20week scan. After all way ok'd the girls came in and were asked 'what's that?'.
We didn't tell anyone til then, then let the girls go wild telling people :)
It just seemed too long for them to wait 40weeks
we told DD1 that a baby was on the way right away :lol:
we were sooper dooper excited lol!
With this baby we didn't tell the boys until I was about 13 weeks. I didn't want to say anything earlier as I have had a missed miscarriage and if that happened again I didn't want to have to explain it to them. Also because my eldest has a big mouth and would have told everyone .
I told DS around 9 weeks I think. It was not long after his birthday, but definitely before the scan because he came with us to the scan and we had told him we would see a picture of a growing baby on the TV. By 12 weeks when we intended to tell our parents he still didn't really get it but when we started telling friends and my work colleagues (his day care carers) at 15 weeks he was mega excited and would tell everyone about baby squish in mummy's tummy.
By the time I was 33ish weeks or so he had enough and was about as impatient as me :lol:
We told the girls at 7.5 weeks after I had had a scan. I had initially planned on waiting until after the 12 week scan, but DD1 had been getting quite worried seeing me take lots of medication daily, having doctors' appointments and having needles - poor little love asked me if I was going to die so we figured that thought in her head was a lot worse than having to maybe tell them our baby had died if I miscarried.
They are both extremely excited, although DD1 is still wondering how the baby will fit out my mouth when its born no matter how many times I tell her that's not where babies come out!
We told DD pretty soon after we found out, once it was confirmed by the blood test. Of course, she is a bit older so I wasn't quite so worried about how she'd handle it if I had miscarried - thankfully not a concern for us though.
We decided one afternoon to go shopping and called in at a baby shop to look at prams and cots. Took her a few minutes to wonder why we were there, then she guessed - she'd been asking for a little brother or sister for quite a while and finally has one!
We didn't tell DD until I was around 20w (when I had my first scan and was starting to show) as we figured 9 months is a long time for an adult to wait, let alone a 2yr old and we then had things we could use to help explain it all to her too, this was when we told our parents and announced things also. She is very excited and asks almost daily when we will be having her baby sister haha always trying to get her to kick and talking to her, it is very cute.
I think if she had of been older we might have explained things earlier.
