HyCoSy and Sonohysterogram tell me about your experience

Hello I am booked in for the above eek! I am wondering a couple of things. What actually happens , does it hurt, and someone mentioned after HyCoSy you can be more fertile is this true?
Any advice or experiences welcome :)

Get hun, there was a thread about hycosy yesterday, so I'll copy my answers from there :hug: But short answer, after 22 months of TTC we got utd with DD the cycle after the hycosy.

Yep I had it done. Can't help you on the cost as I went public (about a 2 month wait) but I'm pretty sure the dye they use is exxy. Any questions you have, ask away. We were on our 22nd month TTC when I had it done (had it done in an 86 day cycle, a few days before O, DH and I didn't manage to DTD anywhere near O as it was such a crazy cycle). The next cycle later I was utd naturally. One tube was partially blocked but nothing major at all.

I took the day off work, I was a little uncomfy and leaky afterwards. My appointment was in the afternoon, so technically I could have worked in the morning. Probably after too, but I didn't wanna

Did it hurt? Yeah, for me it did. Nothing major, but I had to breathe deep when they injected the dye. Some people it hardly bothers them at all. But for me, it wasn't pleasant. I also had like 2 students there as well as the doctor and the nurse. The doc was also pretty rough with the dildo-cam.

The earlier in your cycle the better. But having a cycle going on for 70 days with no end in sight, I talked to the doc and I weighed up my own risks (like if by some freak chance I was preg) and decided to do it. We almost induced AF until I O'ed after the procedure.

I got my referral from our FS. Also a script for clomid and whatever it was to induce AF (can't remember what). When they did the scan before it all started they said my follies were ready and I'd O in the next week or so.

I found mine fine, really. Didn't hurt too much. They inject die into the uterus... and you roll to each side while they try to push the dye through each tube. One of my tubes spasmed shut so they couldn't get dye through it and the pressure hurt a bit. But it went away very fast.

I've had heaps of dildo cams but I felt really exposed for this procedure.

You can be more fertile afterwards if it unblocks a previously blocked tube (sometimes the blockage is just mucuous and it can dislodge that).

i had a hycosy about 6 months ago, it was fine, wasn't painful at all, i have had worse ultrasounds.

i have heard it hurts more if you do have blocked tubes (which i didn't)

i conceived 2 cycles later but it ended in miscarriage at 9 weeks

Joeve, it was my thread yesterday. I am having the same procedure only mine is called a levovist study (levovist is the name of the dye they will be using) PZ pretty much answered it all anyway :)

I had a HyCoSy with lap, hysteroscopy and d&c in June. I was knocked out though, so didn't have to suffer through the cramping and discomfort like the other ladies.

I do think it contributed to my BFP as I fell the cycle immediately after. My Fertility Specialist said the "renovations" were more likely responsible than the Clomid, so there ya go.

When are you having it done? Will be thinking of you hon.

Joeve that was our exact plan too, the hycosy then AF then clomid. We never needed the clomid ;) :hug:

Ok just rounding this thread out incase anyone reads it in the future. It was uncomfortable but totally fine. Go me the tubes etc were all good. Just hoping for a PZ outcome now! 7days til testing!

Hahaha a PZ outcome!! I hope you get one too :hug: I got AF after the procedure and the next month was bfp.

Ohh reading this... I had a PZ outcome :) First round after hycosy AF, second round BFP!!!
