Low PAPP-A result
Before you panic about having a low PAPP-A reading, ask for another blood test!
I had a blood test as part of the 12 week NT scan. My ultrasound results were all very normal, but I ended up with a risk factor of about 1:200 because my PAPP-A result was 0.12. The ultrasound doctor told me I had to have a CVS or Amnio test, which I was very worried about. I asked if I should have another blood test just to be sure. He said the PAPP-A readings always stay the same and there was no point. I insisted on having another blood test. It came back with PAPP-A 0.38! Much improved. My obstetrician said my risk for chromosome abnormalities is now very low and I don't need to have an Amnio or CVS.
