My DS is 3 and a half and the poor thing has a whole in the side of one of his molars :(
We have an appt today with the dental clinic so they deal with kids all the time but i'm scared for him. I am not putting my fears on him as he is quite excited about going, bless him but how will they do it?
Will they gas him? numb him? does that mean an injection? Surely the have to 'subdue' him somehow as I really cant see him being co-operative for too long.
Anybody done this with their little one?
DS, who was 5 at the time, recently had one. No gas, no injections and no subduing! I was very surprised. I was not allowed in as they didnt want him getting all worried if I looked worried but the filling was moulded onto his tooth and was described as temporary - ie will last the next few years until that tooth falls out. I was very surprised at how painless and quick the whole thing took, so hopefully you have nothing to worry about.
Given its a molar it need preserving as it will be there for a long time yet.
It depends on the child, they may numb it with cream first then use LA, not many use gas.
There a chance they can't do it if he won't co operate and you may need to see a pediatric dentist for sedation or even a GA
It also depends on the size of the hole
