Just wondering if there is anyone out there who feels like the evil step mum sometimes???
I feel like I am always telling her off and complaining about something she is or isn't doing (she's 9 BTW).... I guess this is probably normal for a parent, but as I don't have any of my own yet, I feel I bit dishearted by it sometimes.
just looking for other step mums out there to share the frustration!!
I know how you feel. It feels like i am always whinging about my step children, they are teenagers though!
Hi hun, I don't have any step kids anymore (used to but split with their dad) but if it helps I feel like I'm forever griping at my own 9 year old DD as well. They go through phases where they for some reason try to push the boundaries (and our buttons) - it's quite normal. Hang in there and hope things settle down soon :)

DS1 and DSS are both the same age. When I reprimand DS1 I don't have a second thought. When I reprimand DSS I worry that I'm going to (a) drive him away; (b) p-off DH; (c) give him something to tell his mother about; (d) all of the above!

Cass - I feel like I'm second guessing myself all the time! When she looks at me with 'that' expression - and I know that we get along famously and she really does see me as another figure - I just want to slap the look right off her face and say "don't look at me like that you little s$&@! Of course I don't. I won't with me own either as I don't think it's necessary to discipline with smacking. But I hate that look.
I have always been so careful as a stepmother and we do get along great. But I just find myself resenting her more and more lately. I think because I'm having so much trouble having my own it's worse ATM. Thing is, she is annoying. Mostly I want to do a great job and I'm careful about everything I do and say. But sometimes I just want to scream and tell them both (dsd9 & DH) that it's not their little secret world that I can't come into. I just want my own little monster to stuff up myself. Lol. :)
Ps @ cranky kitten - it is reassuring that it's the same for "normal parents" just sucks we have to do the saw job without the glory of being called "mum" :) thanks
Myturn - if you want to feel a little bit better read my vent from today! I know exactly where you're coming from ....argh!!
Yeah I saw... Not many step parenting threads here so I tend to gravitate to them quickly :) hope you do get some resolution and feel better about the whole situation. xx
