I want to study from home. Where to start?

I have decided when dd is in grade 1 I want to go back to work as a teachers aide. I have studied child are prior to having children and ony had 3 subjects left to qualify as a teachers aide.

How do I go about finding out what I have left to do?? It's all very daunting after 11 years out of the workforce

I would start by ringing around the universities/tafes and having a chat to them.
Then call where you previously did your course and see if you still have some credits from completing those classes
Then Jump in and go for it :D

The teachers aides at my kids' school do their course through the local TAFE, so that's where I'd be starting :) Good for you for wanting to get back into study too!

Can you contact the place you previously studied to find out what you have got that is valid and what you still need to do??? From there you could contact any places that offer aide courses and use your previously studied subjects to count towards it. (Sorry Im not sure where, I think most uni's offer courses). I studied a Cert 3 in Education and that was through a Uni, I'm sure most Uni's and Tafe's would have suitable courses and hopefully you will get credits for your previous studies! I study externally and it's great.

Try the TAFE website for your state. You should be able to search for who is offering the course by distance ed. Also, www(dot)oten(dot)edu(dot)au has online TAFE courses.

i agree that you should check where you studied previously as courses expire if you don't finish them within a certain time which may mean you need to start again. There are quite a few places that offer remote learning in a variety of fields so look at the place where you particularly want to study otherwise maybe open learning?

Thanks ladies. I think I studied through open learning institute It was so long ago though.

I ideally want to study from home so I can still be there for my kids before and after school and during school hours to help out. I helped out a lot this year and really enjoyed being involved.
