OPK Reading Negitive
Sorry lovely mods, wasn't sure if I should post in charting or just here, since it's not really a chart....anyway....
Has anyone that's used OPK's had months where they failed to see the LH surge? I was successful the first two months, the past two months have just not turned positive for the surge. I read an interesting FAQ but was wondering if anyone else had experienced or heard of it happening?
First month the surge showed on day 17, second month day 19. DH and I have been working hard from about day 14 to 21, but I still have to deal with my evil AF :( !
I've been using some dipstrips we bought online.

Hi Neda!
I never seemed to be able to detect my LH surge on OPK. I would get a line but it was always lighter than the control. Since I had PCOS I could never be sure if I was surging or if it was just my wacky hormones causing a false surge. Anyway, when I fell PG in September I did use OPK and never got the line but had all the other signs - BBT rise, cervical position, EWM and ovulation cramps. I was very aware of what my body was doing as I'd had so much practice working out what was going on at each cycle. While I did use OPK I always made sure I was checking everything else as well. I think OPKs are handy if you ovulate regularly but if, like me, you don't, they're not so useful.
Good luck!!

I never had any luck with OPKs either hun. Sorry it's frustrating you
FX for a BFP really soon and you can do away with all this.

Hi Neda,
Yes, I am the same as BlackRose - OPK's never worked for me due to my PCO. We just DTD every second day & happened to fall pg with our DD. It has really been hit & miss for us. Perhaps try looking for the other signs like BlackRose has suggested. GL x

You may be having very short surges and maybe missing them? Do you test twice daily?
Only other thing is you may not be ovulating (annovulation) To determine this you will need to start temping :)

I agree with Tasha. Are you watching for other signs as well Neda? Change in cervical mucus, twinges/aches/pains...? I found a combo of this with OPKs more reliable that OPKs on their own.
Hope the egg shows up soon - good luck :)

Can you try and book in for a BT to see if you are ovulating? Won't help you detect the surge but may let you know if o is happening?

Thanks Ladies :)
I did have a pretty full bloodworkup done back in october, the 'day 21' bit (though for me it's on day 25) and all the other stuff they check for. Asked my gp for another progesterone check yesterday and had it done on day 24 of a 32/average. I was in getting a referral back to my gyn who's also a consultant for Life Fertility, and have an appointment for January.
BBT: Can't do, I wake up too frequently at night to get an accurate reading (too many years working the night shift back in the old country *lol*)
CM: Yeahhhh about that.....erm. Not much there. Tried doing internal exam but I have no clue how far back I'm supposed to poke? I really don't feel what the articles say I'm supposed to feel.
Twinges, aches, pains the 4/5 days of wanting to eat everything in the house and go out for more, I'm pretty sure I feel the right time approaching so inform DH that it's time to DTD and we are pretty good at doing every other day. Next month may need to go to closer to my period due date though, I think we fell a few days short this month . It sucks that it's just one more month of trying that I'm never going to get back.
I'm not even feeling excited about the possibility of being pregnant this month *shrug*
Next month I'll test afternoon and early evening.
