My chances of a VBAC just increased :)

I'm attempting the 'eight and a half months pregnant happy dance' at the moment, I just got the best news.

My mum just called raving about a show last night that she watched in which a pregnant mum was being bullied by doctors and midwives that wanted to do huge interventions during her labour. The mum freaked out and locked herself in her bathroom when her labour started and only called the butler to come help her when she was pushing. She ended up with a completely (medically) unassisted birth and was really happy. Mum thought it was brilliant and now thinks more births should be like this.

This is such a change for my mum who is an old school midwife who didn't have an issue with interventions. Now she understands why I really don't want any of the hospital doctors of midwives involved in my labour so I can avoid the interventions. Things are so up and down for me at the moment and it is little things like this that is making me so confident with a VBA2C.

Sitting down to rest now as the 'eight and a half months pregnant happy dance' has puffed me out lol

so glad you are positive! I will be stalking you! my VBAC was full of interventions BUT! it was still my successful VBAC! hope yours is all natural but remember you are no less of a woman and the experience will still be a great one even if you happen to have an intervention or two. but I know you will be just fine!

GL hun!! My head space is completely in home birth mode now and I mostly forget it's even a VBAC. I can recommend watching some good VBAC videos on YouTube to even more get into that frame of mind. Can't wait to read your BA!

Keep yourself surrounded with positive stories like this! Its all that you need at the moment.

It really saddens me that a woman has to lock herself away, alone during labour to have a say in what happens to her body though.

awwww! I had heaps of complications, even a transverse lie at 37 weeks and still got a positive outcome, it ain't over til it's over

Ok, I've calmed down a bit. They have diagnosed Polyhydramnios, the major problem is that I am at risk of premature rupture of membranes and prem labour. The only issue with that is because there is sooooo much fluid in my uterus at the moment that bubs isn't engaging and is floating all over the place. Therefore cord prolapse is possible. I had this with DD2 right towards the end at 38 weeks and there wasn't any problems.

However due to the amount of fluid already in there they are concerned about how much more there will be, and immediately started talking about c-section. If there is cord prolapse, it has to be c-section - thats fine. However if my waters break they still want to c-section as they claim my uterus is going to be compromised by all the extra stretching. Also if he engages with anything other than his head, they want to c-section. So overall they are rather keen on c-sectioning me - surprise surprise.

I have a growth scan this week to make sure he will be big enough if I deliver this week. Also they want to check at next weeks appointment to see if I am dialating, if I have, they want to then admit me until my waters break or I go into labour. Fun Fun Fun! If my waters break, I have to go into hospital immediately to make sure there is no prolapse and I bet either way they will want to c-section me.

So, yeah, they aren't keen on a natural birth, but this would be the same for a mum who hasn't had a c-section before. They are just putting a lot of limitations on me already. Not a happy camper at the moment :(
