Lochia Still or AF Already???

DD is 6w2d, vaginal birth and exclusively breastfed 3-4hourly.

I had lochia bleeding until last Sunday (5w1d) which was still bright red in colour, small pools of blood when going to the toilet, but no more than a liner a day. Nothing till Thursday, when I had a sharp pain on the right side, and then bleeding started again. Bright red and cramping. Not a lot of loss but today there has been a bit more than I've had for the last couple of weeks.

I had an internal ultrasound around 4w due to colour of bleed and excessive cramping and pain. Ultrasound showed a small amount of something in my uterus, small enough that my OB believes will pass naturally. Could it just be this? A continuation of lochia? Surely AF can't be back already :doh:

With DD1 I had lochia on and off for 6 weeks. I then got AF when she was 8 weeks old and I was exclusively breastfeeding If there was something on the U/S might be worth getting it checked if you are getting cramping with it

sounds like lochia still. it happened to me this week, bleeding stopped after 3 weeks then came back I too thought it was AF but then passed a small clot and it stopped again today. Having said that I breastfed my first son and got my period 28 days to the day he was born, although it was a c section and all my post birth bleeding stopped after 7 days so really I am no help!

Sounds like lochia. I bled for 7 weeks and was expressing every 3 hours during that time.
Oh, I had a c/s.
