Is she small or not??
Baby had a growth scan today, her head and legs measured 25 weeks, belly 26 weeks. she should be measuring 27 weeks.
The person doing the scan said she weighed about 850gms
i just did a google search, the average weight for a 25 weeker is 660gms, and the average weight for a 27 weeker is 875gms, so according to that, yes she's short/got a small head, but weight wise shes only a tiny bit behind the average.
im so confused now

Did they say what centile she is on??

Sounds average to me :)
I worked with some very experienced sonographers who said you only had to be 1 mm off on length measurements to be one week out on gestation.

Charlotte, no they didnt say.
LC, they did the measurements a few times over, aswell as a different person coming in to do it. i think she might just be short!

Don't worry love. It is an art to get those measurements not an exact science. My sonographer told me the other day that it is all very subjective. No doubt your baby is perfect. At a 35 week scan the sonographer did, in the corner of the screen it said +/- 400gms. I could tell u so many stories of women told they had a big or little baby only to find out at birth it was wrong.

I think she is fine. Of all my pgs very rarely did all the measurements correlate with the gestation I was at. And don't forget that all babies are born different sizes too.

1-2 weeks margin for error, right? Sounds like she's spot on

my 20 week scan had a 10 day margin of error allowance. I think they commonly use the BPD and AC measurements to calculate weight, so the head size and abdominal size so I think you are right she is probably just short, but sounds like she is filling out well. I hope she can stay in long enough, safely to get a bit bigger. I know every day must be agonising at the moment. That moment when she is safely in your arms must feel forever away. Thinking of you.
