Nappies for hip displaysia

Hi everyone,
Some advice please. My baby girl is 6 weeks old and has just been diagnosed with mild hip displaysia. She is my third child and we have never had this before. We have always used modern cloth nappies after using up our supply of disposable new born nappies. The peadiatrician told us yesterday to use a cloth nappy over her disposable one and we will review in a month. I was so tired that I forgot to ask him about our modern cloth ones. Will it have the same effect if I use a modern cloth over the top of a disposable? What if I use the modern cloths instead of disposables? My husband thinks we should just use disposables with an old fashion cloth until her hips are better.

He would have meant the old ones, they are bulkier and keep the hips separated. This doesn't happen as much with the modern ones. What our pead had us do was use terry nappies on backwards, with the snappy fastened at the back.

The old fashioned way of doing this was to have two terry squares on to get the hips spread. So you could do a terry square over an MCN, or two MCNs, or a terry square over a disposable. Or two terry squares. I love terry squares. Don't fret too much over it, the main aim is to get a good bit of bulk between her legs, to keep them apart so that the growth in the hip joint is nudged in the right direction ;)
