Potential Labour and Inc Newborn with Sick Toddler...
For only the second time in her 2 and a half years of life, my DD is sick! She is a bit sniffly, has a little cough but doesn't seem miserable or anything at least, no temp. I'm 38w 3d pregnant (DD came spontaneously at 38w) so labour could be soon (it could also potentially be a month away and this a distant memory) but I'm freaking out about potentially being sick during labour and/or the newborn getting sick when she arrives. What do we do? I don't want to avoid my daughter (and it isn't very practical either) when we only have few precious moments before she becomes a big sister and I definitely don't want her to have to be 'on the outer' when the new baby is around so what other sort of precautions can we take? She is still breastfed so I'm hoping that might help it pass quickly but what else can I do? Either preventively for me or otherwise for her. I'm guessing she picked it up at family Christmas as my brother wasn't 100% and she started coughing that night so it has been a couple of days so far, what sort of time frame are we looking at?
How do you survive labour when you are sick? With DD I only had a few puffs of gas and was not a fan so won't be using that this time, I was hoping to avoid everything else also but am worried if I'm sick, I will get exhausted and might not have the will power to get through. DD was a ~12hr labour so not too long but not that short either, it definitely took it out of me even being in good health!
Already feeling a bit heavy headed and flemmy but might just be pysching myself into it... DP was also a little sniffly Christmas night but seems fine now...
