what is the difference between adhesions and endometriosis?
endometriosis is where the endometrium (unterine lining) grows outside of the uterus where it is not supposed to eg on you bowel ovaries etc
adhesions are where scar tissue has formed and two organs/different types of tissue get stuck together. This can happen as a result of surgery, trauma or endometriosis. When tissue has been damaged an inflamatory process occurs and sometimes this leads to organs getting stuck together. Adhesions can cause pain and other complications and can make surgery difficult as they have to be seperated to gain access to an area.
