9 month old partying in the night...how long will it last?

Ds is such a typical nine month old, and has started waking in the night about 1am and not going back to sleep for at least an hour or two. He doesn't cry, he is excited and happy and crawls all over me and the bed, playing with anything in reach. He sits up and squeals, and basically wants to get up.

Dh has been working at home through the night recently because we're going away (can't take a holiday without thrashing yourself first right? That's a different thread!) so I have been getting up and giving ds to dh who just watches him play on the floor. After a few hours he is much easier to settle, but it's still not great. Last night was between 1 and 3:20 am (and dh decided to do more work :wall:)

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty wrecked with the midnight parties and was hoping to hear from mamas who have come through the other side. I don't remember anything like this with dd. I remember her feeding a million times a night, but not this partying thing (although I've read about it here on bb).

So yeah...tell me this too shall pass...quickly?

I hope it passes quick for you. My almost two year old still does it at least once a week.

Dd still does it so I put her in the cot for two seconds and she gets upset so I grab her straight out and that usually gives her the message to go to sleep with us.

Oh hun, I wish I had some words of wisdom. I truly hope that this phase passes soon. Maybe DS senses that your DH is awake, and up to something in another room? Would DH normally be asleep beside or near DS at that time of night?

I also hope DH finishes his 'night' work soon, it sounds like you are over that too! :hug:

My eyelids are struggling to stay open today! I'm hoping for a better night.

I went through that with my son a handful of times, but it never lasted more than a few days in a row and was for the most part related to teething, or I put it down to a wonder week! Its rare and random but still happens over here every now and then. I would think it will be over very soon for you.... :hug: I know how awful it is being forced to stay awake when all you want to do is sleep! I kept the room dark and continuously rocked or fed my son til he eventually went to sleep, up to a few hours later. Good luck... It will pass, quickly!

my dd used to do this from time to time, since birth actually but has stopped in the past month or so.
my solution was to hand over to DH when she was like this :) worked a charm

DD2 used to be an every-single-night partyer. thankfully with time, she has gone down to a sometimes-night-partyer. i am not sure if there are any tips or tricks TBH...we just rode it out (with varying levels of craziness and zombie-antics during the day etc).
