Labels

Being that I'm not in playgroups or kindergartens or anything like that, want to know where I can buy the sew on labels for children's clothing and the like?

And stick on labels for lunchboxes and drink bottles. Do I need to buy a label maker? Or just use some tape with a permanent marker? I hate writing on things though.

I got a pack last year from Aussie labels that had the stick on, iron on and shoe labels in one batch

I know lots of people on here use Stuck on You and I have used them as well, they last really well. Have also used label Kingdom and been happy with those too.

I swear by Stuck on You in terms of quality, but OMG they have gotten so expensive!! Plus they used to have free postage and now they don't. So I went with Bright Star Kids this time and their prices are what stuck on you USED to be LOL. They have all the clothing labels and everything you need. I should get them by Friday so I'm looking forward to seeing what they are like.

I think identikds have them online too.

I just saw ourdeal has bosco bear for $8 but I don't know if that includes iron on. Worth a look though

I bought a dymo labeller - the cartridges allow for iron-on labels and vinyl (lunch box etc) stick-on labels. I figure that it will pay for itself fairly easily over time. The cartridges are about $12-15 to replace.

Check out Bosco Bear, Identikids, Identity Direct, Stuck on You, Mooo (yes with 3 O's). I have used Identikid in the past, initially can be expensive for the packs, they work out good value in the end as I am still using the pack I got for DS1 in Prep now, he is about to go into grade 3. So good value really.
A dymo would be a fantastic investment!!

ETA: Someone I know has ordered through Bosco Bear recently and said she is still waiting for her order that she ordered a few weeks before Christmas.

I went with bright star kids this time around too - they seem reasonably priced and has free postage with an order over $20 - the delivery time is dispatch within 2 days - or you can get a next day delivery for an extra charge.

i went with cloth sew in labels eventually. For environmental reasons. And i like to handsew. And i have the time to do that.

First i tried out the iron in labels. Some stayed put, some didn't stay put. And it dawned on me, iron on labels are a single use product. So then i switched to the sew in type, cos once my child has grown out of a size, i can quick unpick that label, and sew it into the current size stuff she is wearing. So the re-use factor is good. But you do need the time and inclination to hand sew them in (i know some people machine sew them in, but that sounds too fiddly for me).

Cashs is a brand that does woven labels. There are others too. There's one company near the Trak Cinema on Greenhill Rd, their name escapes me right now. The more you get, the cheaper it is. Only buy 24 - not cheap. Buy 100, very cheap. They have 12 years of school ahead of them, so a bulk order will always get used.

If I was going to buy labels again (I did order some from mooo) I would just have a last name so any younger siblings could use the item without having to worry about who people were expecting things to belong to. (when using my labeller I just use our surname)

Gigi, that's what I'm after, the sew on ones! I hadn't got to look at any of the sites mentioned yet. I managed to print a handful of stick on labels for lunchboxes etc today at work.

My DS1 was given some name stickers from a friend at day-care they are from a lady who has or used to have an ebay store as it states on the bag 'Ebay Top-Rated Seller'. I had a look at her online store & found them very cheap compared to a lot of online stores. I have previously ordered from All Mine & Identity Direct. I purchased 80 iron on for $20 and 432 stick ons for $24 for DS2 who will start day-care in a couple of weeks. I am not sure on durability or quality as I am yet to try just thought I'd put it out there. The online store is under Bee Stickers.

Has anyone tried the Identikids semi-permanent labels? I like the idea that they will eventually come off so I can hand things down or send to the op shop. I don't want them to come off for several months though.

Sorry don't mean to hijack your thread Netix...I just thought I may as well post here rather than start another similar one.

I suggest looking at 'That's Mine' labels. Last longer than the bright star kids ones.... they tend to peel off VERY quickly and the BSK shoe labels don't even last one wear.
