It's on my mind
I'm only 23 weeks so not quite 3rd tri.
But it's been on my mind a fair bit and it's related to 3rd tri. so here go's
Baby one was 42 weeks gest so two weeks over due
Baby two was 42 weeks gest again two weeks over due
SO with both previous babys being over due do you think this baby will be likely to be overdue as well?
What do you think?
-
Oh gosh, I just read that you have HG - to you.
I've only had the one bub so far so couldn't comment from personal experience - I think bubs tend to come in their own time though. Will your caregivers suggest induction if you do go 'over'? Can you look into natural induction methods if it is of concern to you?
-
Yep, sounds like you make a comfy home in there - your babies like to hang about, chances are #3 will follow suit :)
-
I'm roughly the same as you - both girls were well overdue and I'm not expecting this one to be any different.
-
I was afraid you'd all say that. Blow!
Spose a gal can hope.
Was so wishing someone might say with some conviction that "na everything will be fine and it will come by it's due date".
Natural methods have not worked in the past.
And funnily enough each birth experience has been just like the respective childs personality.
First one was threatened with being forcably evicted and decided to come.
The next had to be forcably evicted. Yep thats her.
sigh will have to wait and see for this one.

Number 1 - late induced
Number 2 - 39 weeks
Number 3 - late induced
I'm hoping this one follows no.2.

I say your more likely to go over, but nothing is certain. you never know, you may go before your edd.

:pray:Please please come when your ment too pleeeeeease. chuckle
I spose the only good thing about induction is we'll have some idea when the big day will be. But I kind of liked the surprise with number 1.

You never know..... Hope you're not waiting so long this time!
I've had 2 long gestations also, so would probably expect another long one if it were me
-
You just make it too comfy in there!
Who knows this one may surprise you and come 2 weeks early!
-
My mum had six children and there was no pattern to when we were born. A couple were up to three weeks early, some were late and I think I was on time!
-
oh hun I too had HG with both pregnancies to the point I had chipping flaking teeth due to the stomach acid! I feel for you! no help here as my first was induced early but my second was 15 days over and induced, I will be watching you to see what happens coz I am wondering the same thing!
-
hard to say but its likely you may go over again.
ds1 was born at 33 weeks, after rupture of membranes
ds2 was born at 38 weeks, after rupture of membranes
ds3 am hoping follows ds2 and not ds1, but i will be booking in a c/s date between 38/39wks, i cannot imagine getting to the c/s date without my waters breaking first cause i beleive thats how my body starts it all.

HG is hard, I'm sorry, hang in there hun.
Unfortunately our modern obstetric culture has pathologised something perfectly normal: that women gestatations vary, just like women's menstrual cycles vary. Some women have text-book 27 and a half day cycles, but many of us have slightly longer cycles than that - and that's normal.
I have known women to gestate naturally to 42, 43, 44 weeks - and one friend had her VBAC at 45 weeks - and these gestations have resulted in spontaneous start of labour and a normal physiological birth.
The other things is the dating methods used - the Naegels method is pretty out-dated but it's still the one that is used. By the Wood's method, however, which is more tailored and allows for individual variations, you might find that you have a week or a week and a half more than you thought, by the Naegel's dating method.
Even if you're absolutely sure of the dates, variations on length of gestation are perfectly normal. The '10 Month Mama' page on facebook could be a source of support and info.
Some women just gestate longer than others and that's normal. Other times a bub might take a little longer to settle into his or her preferred position for birth. In this case induction won't be helpful because it means the baby has to start labour before they've figured out their optimal positions. I think that walking regularly during pregnancy, and regular care from a Chiro or Osteo to help the pelvis stay aligned and balanced, and possibly Optimal Foetal Positioning, can also help the pelvis and baby be positioned and lined up well - and therefore could potentially remove a reason why a baby stays put longer. (But that's not to say that plenty of perfectly lined up babies in wonderfully symetrical pelvises won't stay comfortably put for 43 weeks or so, because that's just normal for them.) The 'Spinning Babies' website has more info about this.
I hope this helps you feel more positive about being a mama who gestates to 42 weeks or more.
How is the HG treating you this time? Hope you are OK.

Hg is finally starting to ease with each day that go's by I am feeling better and better. It's nice not to be in bed all day every day now.
I will have a good look at your links Julie thanks heaps.
I am expecting to go over this time as well although I hope not.
Also expecting that this baby will be a boy if previous pregnancys and level and duration of hg are anything to go by.
Have a follow up US this arvo as baby was not in the best position last time and could not be shifted so we could only manage most of the requirements during us. So off for the rest this arvo and not looking forward to it in this heat.
My cycles are shorter but within the normal range and even though I mentioned this to the ob/midwife they still insist this is the due date.
So I am off to check out your links and try and work out edd on the "alternate" method. Thanks!
I did try to work out the edd but can not remember when my last menstral cycle was. Dam* baby brain it's killing me.
