Milk, bottles & cleaning them in Thailand!

Just wondering what others did regarding formula and bottles in countries like Thailand and Indonesia, where you can't drink tap water?
DD will be 20 mths when we go away for a week. She would still have 2-3 bottles a day I think, only about 120ml each. I'm contemplating bringing the tetrapaks of formula and cleaning bottles with boiling water from a kettle?!? I think they are 250ml each so each pack would do two feeds, that means I'd only need around 10-12 (2.5-3 liters) packs so wouldn't be overly hefty to pack!

We went to Bali in October last year and DS was about 19 months. By that age he no longer had formula, just cow's milk at bed time.
Be sure to use bottled water in the kettle to wash the bottles with.
We gave DS UHT milk from the Bali supermarkets. If you are still using formula, then yes I would prob go with the tetrapaks for ease of use.
Really, in the heat over there, DS was more than happy to have his milk bottles replaced with water more often than not!

You can buy Milton tablets and use them with the cooled boiled water for an overnight soak to be absolutely sure.

The made up formula sounds like a good idea.

Make sure you have a fridge in your room :)

You could buy bottled water over there to make up the formula. A travel kettle could be handy if you not sure what facilities you will have when you are there.

Thanks girls. Just checked and the room has a microwave and a 'water boiler' so I think we will use a combo of powdered and tetrapak formula and use hot bottled water to clean :)

2-3 bottles at 20 months seems alot?

I would advise using boiled water over bottled water. and if its a pot/jug that holds water and boils it -over a kettle, boil it when you get there and throw the 1st lot of water out, then fill and boil again.
A dr I saw in china said better to drink boiled water then local bottled water, u can stil get upset tummy with bottled water.
I would suggest buy some imported water bottles when you get there and keep them for refilling and take everywhere with you- for washing her hands etc

I don't think you need formula at 20 months. Maybe you could just wean her off it before you go.

She is 18 mths now and has about 120ml on waking, then about 90-120 ml after morning nap and same after arvo nap. Yep, still two naps! She doesn't cope at all on one nap but I'm hoping she will drop to one soon.
Sometimes she drinks all the bottle, sometimes only half. I guess I'm not really sure when to decrease?! She's only in the 10th percentile for weight so I kinda see it as extra calories for her. Interested in others experiences though?

How's her eating? Generally they'd be getting most, if not all, nutrition from food at this age, rather than formula. Sometimes too much ready milk will mean they get less calories etc as they're too full to eat. you'd know better, though, where she's at with her eating. You could simply start giving her water and food instead of the bottles and see how you go?
