Picking up DS after embryo transfer

Hi ladies,

I need some advice. I have just had an embryo transfer yesterday and I'm really struggling with not being able to pick up DS for cuddles, but mostly at bed time as he is used to big cuddles and a little 'sleepy time' dance. I don't rock him to sleep, just give him plenty of cuddles while we sway to twinkle twinkle. With my previous transfers I was OK as I didn't have a toddler running about. On the sheet you are given post transfer it says not to pick up anything heavy. DS is 14 kg. Should I just pick him up as normal? What did you do when you have a transfer a little one running about?

I picked up my DS - he's somewhere between 12-13kgs and just carried on as normal - we got a BFP

Guess it depends on whether you will beat yourself up if it doesn't work and blame yourself? Women get preg all the time and carry on as normal so I assume things can work fine - but I'd be scared that I (personally) would blame me too much.
But hopefully it's a BFP so it's not an issue at all :)

I was told that half hour after transfer I could carry on as usual as long as I didn't play squash or do something like water skiing... I had a 12 month old at the time and did nothing different with him.

Naomi, I think I would be OK, as I am used to picking up DS gazillion times a day, but I just don't want to risk it iykwim. I had a day 2 embie put in (previous two successful attempts were day 5 & 6).

myturn, that's just it hun. I don't know how'd I feel if I got a BFN, thinking it could have been the lifting.

mylitta, thanks hun. I have been lifting 'smaller' things, but DS is now so heavy, just dunno!

I think that advice must vary from clinic to clinic. I wasn't told any thing like that on mine. Only to take it easy for a few days - you know, avoid rollercoasters, gym, horse riding, sky diving. All the fun stuff!

My response was brief before as was on my phone but wanted to add that our FS told us to go home after the transfer and 'do the deed' as apparently a female orgasm help recreate the normal conception environment and makes for a embryo friendly environment tehehehehehehe - we did both times and it worked - nothing overly strenuous though, no hanging from the chandelier love making or anything like that ;)

As for worrying about what does and doesn't cause a BFP, while in the 2WW I read on some stupid website that eating fresh pineapple helps achieve a BFP - so I ate a whole pineapple BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Naomi, you crack me up :) We DTD the night before the transfer but I didn't know it was a good idea to DTD afterwards!! Not that DF would have gone for it anyway, with his ball bag freshly jabbed and going black and blue, don't think he would have been in the mood! lol

Hi Naomi :) Wow, thanks for letting me know that your beautiful DS was day 2 embie, that is awesome hun and it does give me hope! Yes, I'm slowly losing the plot, I didn't think I'd struggle so much because the previous two 2WW weren't so bad. I guess it's because I've got everything riding on this little embie :pray:

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I have been picking up DS occasionally through the day (mainly at bed time for cuddles) and it's been OK :)

Hang in there Beata, not long now, the 2WW just sucks doesn't it? I found DS to be a wonderful distraction this time, but it didn't stop it from being on my mind constantly. I hope this week goes super quick for you, I will be thinking of you on Friday :) (and lurking......;) )
