I am wanting to get DD's off 'normal' white bread, I get the one with low additives/preservatives etc but I want to know which is the 'best' bread. DD1 goes to school with sandwiches for lunch.
So thoughts wonderful ladies??

I only buy bakers delight bread!
^^ yeah that. Me too. I like white bread but they have a low GI/high fibre one that we get so at least it is a bit healthier!
We switched to wholemeal bread from white as I don't like multigrain bread when adjusting our diet a few years back wasn't much of a problem.
Although I do admit sausage in white bread tastes better than in wholemeal (so if we're supplying bread for BBQ, I get a loaf of white for that)
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so sorry if I'm confusing you ;)
Wholegrain has more dietry fibre and nutritional value than most multigrains which are often white breads with seeds in them.
The bran and the germ are the most nutritious parts of wheat (it contains vitamin B1, B2, B3, E, folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, cooper, iron and dietary fiber) and when the wheat is refined into white flour those nutrients get filtered out.
White bread and multi-grain that is not made with wholemeal have more simple carbs so they are absorbed faster and provide a sugar spike rather than longer lasting energy.
When you're put on the special low residue/low fibre diet for a colonoscopy you're allowed to eat white bread with the crusts off during the phase that you can eat solids.
We buy Helga's Quinoa & Flaxseed bread, I can't say how healthy/unhealthy it is compared to others but we like it and DS has always eaten it no problems :)
Definitely WHOLEgrain as opposed to Multigrain. Even my sensory challenged, extreme selective eater eats it (THANK GOODNESS!!).
We like this one too... but usually eat wholemeal or wholegrain made from the local baker... it's really soft... doesn't last long, but DSD eats it just fine... maybe, instead of the processed ones from the supermarket you could find a local baker???
otherwise we did eat WonderWholemeal for a while and that's still pretty nice/soft etc...
I'm a bit of a hard a*s though, and if I was in your position I'd just say... "this is the bread we are all eating, and you'll eat it"...
(of course I'd try to get a nice one though!!!)
the others are right- in terms of GI, the most recent dietician I saw from the Women's said that wholegrain breads are the lowest GI aka 'best' as they metabolise slower, than white or wholemeal alone....
incidentally, did you know that basmatii rice is lower GI than brown rice... THAT surprised me ;)
