Hey so I am an old member, just couldnt remember my old username lol.
As the title says, My Ex claims Single Parenting Pension, Can I also claim it?
She got in first when we seperated, however I do know that she works most days (I think she may get cash)
(Irrelavant but I was tummy mummy lol)
We both have our lil man 50/50 (100% equal)
I am just about to stop work due to unforseen circamstances but was wondering, Can I also get single parent pension?

Only one parent can get SPP at any one time.
Whoever got in first gets it.
The other partner gets newstart.

I know people with shared care who both get parenting payment, not the whole amount it is based on the amount of care I thought? So they get a weeks pay every fortnight, half the parenting payment each... perhaps I am mistaken? You should call them.
only one parent can claim primary carer status so only one will get single parenting payment. She can choose to withdraw payment if she wants but it's her choice
Ladybirdflies - that's for Family Tax Benefit. That goes according to level of care, as long as you have (from memory, BG might be better on this one) at least 35% care.
She can choose to come off the SPP but it's up to her.
yeah ftb can be split depending on level of care. if you have 35% physical care, you're entitled to soe of the FTB (but not 35% of it) - between 14 and 34% care, you're eligible to have the child on a health care card (if you have one), may qualify for rent assistance, and may get a reduction in the amount of child support paid
parenting payment is only payable to one person though - and it is usually the first person to claim primary carer status. if both parents claim at the same time, it would be assessed on a needs basis - but once you're on payment, unless the percentage of care changes to reflect something other than 50/50, that person can stay on it while they remain qualified (ie, not earning above the limit) and the other parent would have to apply for newstart
