Daylesford with 14 month old

We are looking to get away for 5 nights with our baby. He's still crawling and most likely will be walking by the time we book (thinking of mid-April after the school holidays). Can anyone recommend a place that is walking distance from Daylesford town centre and that is somewhat child-friendly? and that would be classified as at least 4 stars. Also, do you know if there are cot/highchair rental places around Daylesford? What about babysitting - how do you find a trustworthy sitter in a town where you don't know anyone?

Have you been there before

We went when dd1 was 12 months and we stayed in a gorgeous cottage, but for the life of me I can't remember the name. Staying there was lovely and so relaxing. Look on the stayz website and they have a whole lot of child friendly options. Many of the self contained cottages have high chairs, cots etc that they provide. I also think a cottage has more room and is easier with young children.

Not sure about babysitters but the place in daylesford that does the keys for the cottages would probably have people they know and recommend.

we're going in a couple of weeks with a 2.5 year old - we're going back to a place we've been before. can send you the link if you'd like but the dayget website has lots of options & i'm pretty sure you can specify family friendly & maybe even select things like they have a high chair available.

not sure about babysitters - we've only been pre-DS before & this time will be having him with us.

Bengal - Daylesford for the following (we've been there many times) - we were looking for something to do for a holiday that doesn't require taking 5 days off work - so that meant either less than a day car trip or a domestic flight. DS isn't a huge fan of long car rides so the location is great (plus if it is a disaster we can come home easily) and I didn't want to do a flight - I want to throw all our stuff into a car and not worrying about how much we are taking etc. We love the restaurants in Daylesford, the spa treatments, the little town and the scenery - plus there are a few towns close by that I want to explore.

Nai/Sloane - I guess I was looking for the easy way out in terms of avoiding research as there are a lot of places to look at on those sites :p - I wish I could search by cot/highchair availability as that would tell me that the place is very child-friendly. Sometimes when they say family friendly I think they are thinking of a larger group of adults getting together (with older children who won't fall down stairs).

There's a tourist information type place in Daylesford - google them and give them a call. I live close to Daylesford and I think I've seen a holiday babysitting service advertised at the tourist information place so you should be right.

Try escapesdaylesford.com.au or dayget.com.au, both are fantastic booking agencies in town & have over 100 properties on their books. A phone call to them with some requirements ie high chair, no stairs, how much you want to spend & they will be able to offer you some great options. If you have the time, hop onto stayz.com.au they have heaps of daylesford properties to search through as well, but you will need to contact each property seperately for price, kid friendly options etc so it might take a bit more time.

The booking agencies in town will also have babysitters they can call, there are some great, professionally trained nannies around town who do this for a living, caring for tourists families while they are up here on holidays so you shouldn't have a problem with finding someone.

Pack your bathers too, the hepburn bathhouse & spa is a heated indoor mineral water pool that my kids have spend a lot of time in, kids under two get in free with mum or dad & cause it's heated it's great all year round, particularly for bubs!
