Are they Monday to Friday? Do they work weekends? What time do they leave and get home?
My DH works at a refinery and does 2 days followed by 2 nights, then has 5 days off but the first day he spends sleeping of course.
The hours are meant to be 7am/pm - 7pm/am but he leaves at 6 and gets home anywhere between 7:30 and 9.
He works weekends and public holidays whenever his rotating shift falls on them. He also works regular overtime as that's part of their contract.
He gets about 5 weeks annual leave per year :D
My DH works 5 days. He has Wednesday's off (I work Tues and Wed) and works Saturdays and also Friday nights. He also works Public Holidays and if he can't get Sunday people he will work then as well. Over Christmas he had Christmas Day off only..he started at 8am Boxing Day.
Starts around 9am and finishes 6pm if he is lucky. He is not home before 7pm and most nights it's usually closer to 7:30pm as the only time he gets to finish up work is when the shop is closed. Last night he stayed back until 8pm..2hrs after closing time.
He leaves home between 8am-8:30am. It's 45min door to door for him, he travels to work on a motor scooter.
Ahhhh, the joys of retail.
My hubby is a fireman and works 2 days 2 nights and a "sleep" day plus 3 days off (so basically 4 days off) they are rotating and 10hr day shifts and 14hour night shift.
For the day shifts he leave at around 0645 and gets home between 1730-1800
and night shifts he leaves around 1630ish and gets home in the morning between 0730-0800
Mon - Fri. 8:15 to 5:30, so he leave before 7:30 and gets home a bit before 5:30.
There is some work away. So some weeks he is away for 2 or 3 days at a time. No meant to work weekends, but the odd time he has taken phone calls and had to go out and see a contractor on site.
Much better than his old job. 6am to 4pm. Sometimes 5 days away. Sometimes night shift as well.
Mine is mon-fri and ment to be 7-340 but at moment it's 630-310. He also works some weekends and nights and sometimes goes away for a week or 2 at a time.
Mon - Fri.
The days I work (mon-wed) we go together and come home together (unless one of us has a late meeting).
We normally leave at around 7am, and get home at 530 or so - that includes day care drop off and pick up. He then Normally works for a couple of hours at home.
On the other 2 days he is home later, normally by 7pm at the latest. (unless he goes to Friday night drinks!)
He will then normally do some work from home over the weekend too.

Was employed to do Shift = 7 days 12 hours, 7 off, 7 nights 12 hours, 7 off. 6am until 6pm or 6pm until 6am with 45mins drive time each way.
Currently works Mon-Fri. Leaves home at 6.30 gets home at 5.30. Works about 30 mins each night from home. Each week does at least one 10/12 hour stint as required. Spends approx one night each month away. This month it's the 14th (LOL).
His pay rate is good, but if you averaged it on hours worked, it's pretty crappy!
My DP works monday to friday 8 til 5. He leaves the house at 6am and doesn't get home until 6:30pm only because he gets to work by public transport.
He never has to work weekends or work over time which i think is great :)
2 x 12 hour days (5.30 - 5.30)
2 x 12 hours nights (6 - 6)
4 days off
leaves around 45 minutes before work starts.
often has to work public holidays, weekends etc
As it is an 8 day cycle, the cycle moves forward one calendar day each week.
My DH works Monday to Friday, 7-3. He leaves home about 6:45 and gets back about 3:15. He's also constantly on call, as he's a maintenance worker in a glass factory that has not shut down since it opened. So there are people there every minute of the year!
Anyway, if something breaks down it needs to be fixed immediately, so one of the maintenance guys gets called. DH doesn't *have* to go in, if he's been drinking or is busy he just says no and they ask someone else, but the extra money is handy!

We own our own business- so it's *usually* 2 afternoon shifts per week- 4pm till 10, 11 or 12.
One o/night shift on most Friday nights- 6pm till 10am- will nap onsite if he has the chance.
More or less as required.

At the moment it's pretty horrid, he works odd days, any day of the week. He can start work anywhere from 6am, and finish as late as 4.30am. He can work 8-12hr shifts. He's been working alot of arvo/night shifts, which are either 3.30pm-12am or 6pm until 2.30 or 4.30pm. Day shifts are rare, maybe three a fortnight, and are usually 6.30am-3pm. He gets his roster a week in advance, if he's lucky (his boss is terrible at doing it) for 6 weeks, subject to change. He's on call 24/7, and will get at least one call out a fortnight. Days off are unpredictable, usually 1-2 in a row, never more than 3, unless it involves some sort of leave. He's also working alot of weekends. We can't guarentee if he will have a weekend off (although, luckily, at the moment it doesn't matter, because I am not working and the kids aren't at school).
DP works 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday - leaves around 8am, home around 5:30pm.
DH is a builder - leaves at around 6:15 for a 7 o'clock start and home by around 4:45 after a 3:30 ish pack up/finish. If he is site managing as he will be soon that can mean slightly later nights as he has to wait til all tradies leave so roughly 5-5:30. No weekends, all public holidays off, flexibility with taking time off when he wants but being a subby also means that he doesn't get paid for that time off!
One week away and one week at home. 5am -5pm 7 days per week.
DH does 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4 or 9 to 5 or 10 to 6. He works 15min frm hme.
I work 1.5hrs frm hme so I work heaps longer hrs than he does.
We both work mon to fri only.
usually DH flies out at 6am Monday morning and flies in 8pm Friday night. when away they work 14 hour days, ok apparently because there isn't much to do on site.
atm, with bubs due soon he's working 45 mins away in city. leaves about 5:30 and home around 6:30 m-f and a few hours on weekend from home. its much nicer to have him around for bedtimes!
