Just curious as to what themes everyone has done for their kids rooms...
DD's room is butterflies and we are just finishing off doing the twins room and have chosen a space theme which hopefully will satisfy both of them as they grow older, plus gives DH the opportunity to do his 'glow in the dark' stars for them as well :).
What did/have you gone with???

DD1's room was princesses and DD2's butterflies and birds, but now that they have chosen to share a room its a mishmash of the two.
Not sure what this bub's is going to be. Waiting until DD2 is doing full kindy days so I can hit the shops with Mum and start looking.
Nothing. Their walls are a plain neutral colour and their bedding is also relatively plain (what was on sale)
DS1 has some animal prints on the wall and DS2 has some vehicle prints which he chose.
I think they have plenty of time for designing their rooms later. They are just for sleeping in now.
DD has chosen to go with a "mess" motif, with an accent on Strewn Clothing and Discarded Toys ;) :lol:
Eta - jokes aside, I reckon it's a good idea not to lock yourself into something they will tire of quickly. Unless you want to spend money redecorating every few years. Once they hit primary school, their tastes will change pretty quickly and relatively often. EG. DD used to love pink. Now, she hates it! (thankfully!)

Moo has construction and emergency vehicles on his walls, a town mat to play with his cars on, a helicopter light fitting and a plane bedside lamp. Walls are a neutral colour same as the rest of the house, same goes for curtains. It's all relatively new, I didn't want to decorate in a baby theme to have to change it again.
DS has a construction theme in his room, but it slowly getting over taken by a sports theme due to the posters he got out of the newspaper of Cadel Evans and Michael Clarke. He has a construction rug and bunting, and I covered some canvases with material that has trucks and cars on it.
The twins have a owls theme going on, which actually wasn't intentional but everything they have been given seems to have owls on it so now I am going with that! It is actually all quite pretty. They also have gorgeous handmade canvases about their beds with their names on them. If you are on Facebook, search for the page for 'kale'. We got them from there and they are sooooo lovely.
We have a similar motif to N2L. I like to call it mess bomb chic.
At our old house we left DD's room very plain - neutral walls, white furniture and brown & white bedding and curtains. I liked it because we could easily have changed it as she got older. Now we've moved though, and the people that built this house painted a nursery. It's bright green, with grass around the bottom and a jungle mural on one wall. I love it!
I'm not too worried about her growing out of it. It's a small room, so if we have number 2 bubs will go in that room and DD will move into a bigger more neutral room.

All our kids rooms are neutral walls, carpets, drapes etc we just did the theme's using Wall Stickers and a rug for each room in that 'theme' which will need replacing as they get older anyway and now DD is in a bed we got her a couple of doona covers with butterflies on them.
The boys bed decor is more colour based as one boy is predominately blue and the other green - I did this so as they get older it is hopefully going to mean that they have a 'colour' which will designate who 'owns' what instead of having everything shared as we all like our own things :)
Neutral walls and curtains, brightly painted colourful wardrobe and coat hook and whatever doona is clean! He has three. One dark blue with cars and trucks, a green one with dogs and a Postman Pat one! He has only seen Postman Pat once but we got it cheap lol! No theme really apart from bright mismatched colours lol!
We have had many themes... Which is very costly. ATM Dd1 has butterfly's and pink, DS has lightening McQueen, dd2 has butterfly's (tried to match hers to dd1 for when they go into a room together).
We have had... Pooh bear, Dora, safari (the kidsline one), Thomas.
For our little one we are doing a jungle theme. We have painted the walls a mint green, have some green curtains. DH is getting some huge decals printed at work including a 2 mtr tree and giraffe and I had a nappy stacker, quilt and cot valance all made with jungle animals on them.
Our theory is when we have child no. 2 they can then have the jungle theme room and DS will move into the other more neutral room and we will decorate with decals or accessaories. I was never lucky enough to have a themed room as a kid and I always imagined having a pink room so I want my kids to be able to enjoy having fun stuff on the walls etc. I know its a bit exxy but hopefully it's only every few years we are redecorating.
