That moment when I lifts my arms in the air and realise that my clean shirt is not actually clean.
Forgetting my undies and having to choose between commando or putting sweaty undies back on.
When the smelly girl works out beside me (I am aware that she might feel the same about me when my clean shirt is not clean).
What are your pet peeves?
Turning up to a group fitness class and being the only one (this has happened!)
Working out next to an excessively seaty man who sprays his sweat all over me
Group fitness classes where there is plenty of room but someone decides to stand/set up 1 metre away from me
People who don't wipe down the equipment after using it.
Going to lay/sit on something only to find the person before me has not used a towel so left all their sweat on the equipment :vomit: which is now soaked into my clothes.
When you start doing arm lifts and realise that horrendous smell is coming from you! :redface:
Singing outloud to your iPod which you are using headphones for.
That annoying stalker who follows you round the gym talking about their awesome work out.

People on the treadmill next to me watching my speed and trying to go faster as if it is some sort of race.

That one person can be exercising vigorously (like step and pump) until 39weeks and then be back 2 weeks later....

The people of are competing with you to go faster than you when they have resistance set on like 1 and I have it set to as if I was climbing mt Everest!
The skeezy old man who is there just to chat up the young girls
The guys who walk as if they have MASSIVE arms when they are twiggy sticks
When you realise you are wearing a singlet and forgot to shave your underarms
When you realise you forgot to shave your legs and they are almost as hairy as the guy next to you
When you forget SOCKS!! Or your runners and only have thongs/ballet flats :/

When the machine you really want to use is being used by someone else or even worse - broken.
Teenage boys. Usually I ignore them but I feel like such an old fat woman when I see them looking at me.
ETA: When I went to the gym before work in the city, I hated it when some women would blowdry their hair wearing nothing but a g-string. I don't care how hot you think you are - wear some clothes!
People looking you up and down as you walk in, and smirking as if you don't belong there. How do these people expect fat people to lose weight if they can't exercise?!
So many comments in this thread are making me grateful to belong to a women's only gym.
Keike, not all gyms are like that. We have lots of retired women and women at the start of their weight loss journey at my gym and no-one makes them feel out of place.
Yeah, I think a women's only gym would be different, somewhere like Curves. I'll try it one day, when I actually have money :)
But then there's the old saying -
"You wouldn't worry so much about what people think about you if you knew how little they are actually thinking about you".
I imagine people at the gym are much more worried about what they look like/are doing, than giving a toss about anyone else!!
I agree:
people who do a set of something and then go weight themselves. Then do another set. And then weigh themselves.
People who stare.
People who hog equipment
People who copy what you're doing with your personal trainer - seriously dude, if you like what we're doing so much pay for a session with him! My program is designed for my injuries and probably won't suit you!
People who HAVE to get on the machine next to you when there are 8 other free ones.
The intimidating guys who give you that "look" and try to make you feel like you don't belong.

People who read magazines whilst running flat out on a treadmill - seriously? Who can ACTUALLY read a friggin magazine and jump up and down at the same time? ;p
Forgetting clean undies is soooo bad!
Shower rooms without enough ventilation..I hate getting sweatier drying myself in a humid room than I did working out...blergh!

Trying to run next to a woman wearing what smells like half a bottle of perfume. Makes it a tad difficult to breathe!

The chicks at the front desk in tight skirts and stilletos! (I get that your main target for the gym is men, but really?)
Seeing women 3 times my size going off on the cross trainer! I can barely do 5 minutes, it burns my thighs to the point of tears.
The group of pumped up young guys crapping themselves when I enter the weight zone and staring.
