Allergy & Chocolate Free Easter

I know its early to be thinking about this but between all the children in our family we have soy, dairy, nut (tree and peanut), wheat and egg intolerance/allergies and I want to make Easter something special for them.

This is our first allergy Easter. Im after ideas that do not include food including chocolate and buns etc.

What things do you do for a non-chocolate/food Easter?

So far I have a few little chickens up my sleeve to pop into a couple of plastic eggs for a hunt but not sure what to put into the other plastic hunting eggs.

Any crafty ideas are welcome. Will also try making them each a bunny or chick from face washers...

Apart from that we have the standard books and PJ's ideas.

Any help appreciated....:D

They will all be around 12 months and 4 years.

Could you make Easter Cakes out of carrot? (using an allergy friendly recipe?)

½ cup vegan butter , softened
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
1 ¼ cups brown rice flour
½ teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup non-dairy chocolate chips


Directions:

1Preheat oven to 350°F and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
2 Cream together butter and sugar.
3 Stir in vanilla.
4 Stir in applesauce.
5Combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.
6 Stir dry mixture into creamed mixture.
7 Stir in chocolate chips.
8 Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto prepared sheets and bake, one sheet at a time, for about 8 minutes or until golden-brown.
9 Allow to cool 5 minutes on cookie sheet before removing to drying rack.

You could make these "Easter biscuits"...

For food ideas check out quirky cooking, it's a blog and the lady who's it is has similar allergies in her family. She uses a thermomix but you can make some stuff normally.

I've seen play dough in plastic eggs which would be good for 4 year olds

Can they eat cocoa? Or are you avoiding chocolate because it is usually made from soy or dairy?
If cocoa is ok, you can buy chocolates made from rice milk- a brand called Bonvita. They usually make little theme packs for Easter and Xmas. They are available from several online stores. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you the names of the stores.

I'm going to make our own chocolates as we don't have dairy, soy, grains, additives or sugar. I've got an easter chocolate mold and will be making the chocolate from a recipe I have that uses cocoa butter, cocoa and honey. You can skip the cocoa too and make it white chocolate if you want. Let me know if you want the link.

For plastic eggs- stickers, wind-up toys, small crayons.

Can they have other jelly type lollies? Or boiled lollies?

Using ester chocolate moulds you can melt down old crayons and turn them into Easter shaped ones.

i got some funky egg shaped wooden musical shakers last year - i think it was from ecotoys- good size for little kids hands and they still get played with regularly.
