What to wear to funeral?

Tomorrow I have my friends daughters funeral :(
She said to wear pink, instead of black.
I've just been through my wardrobe and I have nothing to wear!! Mostly stuff that I'd wear around the house or out and about. The one pink top I have has a hole in, I discovered (and I've only worn it once since I bought it a few weeks back).
I was going to wear black shorts, but they are horrible! I can wear black pants instead, but on a hot day it's not favorable. I have casual jean shorts?

Omg I probably should just not go.

If you don't have anything pink can you maybe just wear something simple, and see if you can buy a simple pink scarf or something to honour your friend's request? I wouldn't wear shorts, jeans or jeans fabric to a funeral but you know your friend and what's appropriate.

I went to the funeral of a friend a few years' ago and her husband asked that people not wear black, but red to honour his wife. I wore a cream dress with a red scarf. There were lots of lighter colours with red shoes, red ties, red hats, red earrings/necklaces/bangles etc.

What other bright colours do you have?
If you don't have pink maybe purple, blue or red would be ok.

Where is the hole? Could it be covered by a scarf? Can you sew it up? Embroider a flower over the hole?

The hole is on the bottom in the middle, I'm guessing it's worn out from carrying the baby and it rubbing against a button on my shorts.
I have light purple, red, light grey, dark grey, black, a yellow puffy top that makes me look pregnant. Orangey pink top with a Roxy logo on the breast.

What's worse is I don't have shoes to go with it all, unless I wear pants. Maybe I should just suck it up and wear pants.

you don't neccassarily have to wear black, just something else nice, with a pink touch- maybe a flower in your hair or a scarf as people have said- can you borrow something pink or go to an op shop.
I probably wouldn't wear jeans or denim either.
i hate it when you tear your wardrobe apart and still can't find anything!

I don't have time to buy anything or I'd not be worried :( I should have realized my wardrobe was not sufficient enough for something like this!

Long black skirt, red top and brown boots? I'm sweating just thinking about it.
I only have thongs, trainers or boots.

MissEm - I think it's wonderful that you care so much about your friend that you're showing this side of you. Ummm are they rubber thongs or dressy thongs?

I liked the sound of the pale purple top. Do you have any sundresses or similar?

At the end of the day, it's the support you're showing to your friend that's the most important. :hug: and all the best for tomorrow.

Ok I think I have it sorted!! Black pinstripe pants for the service, then change into my black shorts for the burial.

Then in the coming weeks I'll have to hunt a girlfriend down to go clothes shopping with me!

Your friend probably won't be looking too hard at what people are wearing... she'll just appreciate you being there.

I don't remember anything anyone wore to my mother's funeral. I remember the practical help we received and the comfort that people offered but not what they wore. Actually..... my SIL wore my Mum's favourite pearls and they looked lovely and I know how chuffed Mum would have been to see them being worn but I have NFI what she wore them with.

If you want to, another simple option would be to wear a pink lipstick/blush, or grab some pink flowers to put in your hair or pin to your top.

I'm there for my friend first and foremost, and through this sad tragedy it's brought our group of friends together and as a result I'll be meeting a fair few of them tomorrow, as well as some old school friends too.

I have a red top picked out, along with Black pants or shorts. If the shorts look ok with white sneakers that's what I'll wear, if not I'll wear the pants.

I don't think shorts or sneakers would be a good idea for a funeral. Just wear the pants, tops and do you have simple flat black shoes?

I literally only have boots, sneakers and haviannas. Ive been told its casual, nothing formal. Might look better to wear the pants instead of the shorts though?
I'll try it all on once the kids are asleep and out of my hair.

I remember everyone wore colour at DDs funeral at my request except me. I wore jeans, a black top and a big red flower in my hair. It was so good to have so many loved ones turn up for us we weren't bothered by people in thongs, jeans, sneakers etc. Big hugs for today x

I always wear mostly black with a very bright colour to funerals. For Ianto's, I wore a rainbow-striped dress with black pants and an open black dress shirt over it. Both my Nans', I had black pants and a red dress shirt. My Pa's, black pants, black vest/jumper thingie, and yellow shirt under that.

I don't remember anything anyone else wore to any of those funerals. I wouldn't even remember what DH wore if we didn't have photos...
