My dd will be 2.5 when bub #2 arrives. Did you find that you needed a double pram? I was thinking about getting a really good carrier instead but wasn't sure. What did you do?

2 years 4 months between my first two. I used a double pram for exercise but found it too cumbersome for shopping. I used a single at the shops and attached an extra strap which I told DD1 she had to hold to 'help mummy push the pram'. Worked well for us! If DD1 wanted to sleep while we were out I put her in the pram and DS in a sling.
My DD1 was 2 years 3 months when DD2 arrived and we've used our double pram (City Select) a lot. DD1 is a very active little girl though, super confident and a bolter :lol: so we have no choice but to use the pram for shopping and other outings. We love our City Select though :D
Same as Taurean here! We didn't really know how Moo would be by the time the new baby arrived but we still need him in a pram, he loves it too. It can still be used as a single so we'll get a lot of use out of it :D
i still have my nearly 4yr dd and nearly 3yr ds3 in the pram and ds4 in the carrier but dd and ds3 have sanfilippo and are unsteady on there feet when ds2 was born ds1 refused to be in the pram and he was 14months (had been walking since 9months)
maybe wait and see if you need one first

I have the same age gap as you and we definitely need a double pram, it's been my best purchase for baby #2 and has allowed me out and about with ease! My DS1 is also a runner but he wants to hop in the pram with DS2. I am not a huge baby wearer though and couldn't spend long periods with my DS2 in our close carrier.
I suppose it depends on how often you tend to use a pram and if you DD is happy to sit in the pram. My DS was 25 months when DS1 was born so a bit younger but we definately used it. We have a phil & teds so if you want to use it singlely you can if you want to use it double you can. Now with 3 i have them all on the pram at times, DS2 & DD in the seats and DS3 on the foot rest.
Mine were a tad older when their next sibling was born (2 and 9months and 2weeks shy of 3) but both were bolters at 2.5 and I was despairing. I've not bought a double though as I've always worn my babies so I figured I'd test the waters both times and by 3 they've grown out of both the need for a pram and bolting. Couldn't do without a carrier though and was still carrying DD at 4.
We haven't got a double pram and no intentions of buying one. DD1 was 2yrs 9months when DD2 came along. I either carry DD2 (have a sling and a more structured carried) and have DD1 in the single pram or have DD2 in the single pram and DD1 walks.
When I had 2 babies 22 months apart, I had a double pram only used it for about 3 months, found it easier using a carrier and single stroller. This time however with 3 kids, I do have a double pram its too hard otherwise, Ive tried it with a carrier and 2 other kids or a stroller and two kids walking, it does my head in, my middle child 3yrs and baby 7 months sit in the double pram. I do the shopping on the day I have only the baby while the other girls are at preschool/and school.
ETA - I have a bjcmd but in hindsight I should have bought the BJCS, but I didnt cause we have a P&T that does the same thing.
This is pretty much me, with a 2 year 3 month age gap.:
With the exception that I have bought a cheapy second hand double that I only use for long walks (walks between 3 and 6 kms) but never any other time. If you don't do the longer walks then 2 without a double pram is achievable.
I think it really depends on what your kids are like? We had an 18 month gap between our first two and I bought a double pram. OMG, it was so heavy to move with both of them in it and get over the lip of curbs and into shops that had a step. By 2 yrs and 2 months, my eldest refused to get into a pram and would kick his shoes off (meanwhile mum was unaware) and we'd have to double back through the shops to find them. I ended up reverting back to the McLaren stroller for the youngest one (so light weight and narrow and easy to fold into the car) and had one of those kiddy backpack/harness things for the 2 yr old, as he used to bolt near roads. When he got a bit older, he got better at holding my hand etc. I still use the stroller with my youngest who is 2.5 now, and have bought an Ergobaby carrier for number 3 which is due late April. Not sure how I'm going to go with 3 (we sold the double pram on ebay). I'd recommend you buy something secondhand or borrow from a friend, b/c you may not end up using it and pushing two kids can get tiring. Much easier on longer walks to probably get one of those boards that the eldest can stand on, if they get a bit tired on the way back etc.
