Advice on moving 2 into the same room.

At the moment DD1 (5yo) and DD2 (2.5yo) are in different bed rooms, for bedtime i deal with DD2, BF and then lie with her to go to sleep, and DH sits with DD1 till she is asleep, or sometimes she tell him to go and she talks to herself :)

We only have 3 bedrooms, so would like to get the girls moved in together before the bub comes, so there is a space for bubs stuff and DH can use the king single in there when need be. In April DH is of to Melb for a long weekend so as the routine will be out the window i was thinking about using the time to move the girls in together (the room already has bunks)

Any sugestion for the transition or what to put in the new routine - it would be ideal if DH can then do it alone for when i'm stuck on the couch with a nb all evening.

We have both DDs (aged 6 and 3) in the same room and the way that it works now is that DD2 goes to bed first, has 2 stories then gets to put her music choice on. She is usually in bed between 7 and 7.30. DD1 is doing homework while this happens. DD1 then goes to bed between 8 and 8.15 and chooses her music to listen to. DD2 is generally asleep by this time.

Alternately if for some reason they aare going to bed at the same time they both get stories and have to agree on the music.

Have you got some spaqre money (or can you sew?) for them to perhaps pick out something each for the 'new' bedroom are they going to share? I'd just tell them it is happening, make a big deal about sleepovers in their room together, wouldn't mention the baby and leave it at that.

Dd 6 and ds4 share a room. They both go to bed at 7:00, dp reads them a story, and they generally chatter until 8:00 at the latest. I figure that's the compromise I make for wanting them to share a room.
It took about 6 months for the novelty to wear off and things to settle down, and i had to bribe them with a rewards chart for a couple of weeks to get them into the habit of staying in bed but they're good now
