This is not completely uncommon in pregnancy but is definitely worth mentioning to your midwife or OB. It's probably just because of the extra fluid you have on board though :)
I didn't have that exactly, but I had a sensation where my heart felt like it stopped for a second and then there was a sinking feeling in my chest and then a thump like an extra strong beat. If I felt my pulse at the same time there was a double beat, then a pause, then a strong beat. To be honest I;d noticed it prior to pregnancy but during my pregnancy it became much more frequent and noticeable to the point that I couldn;t ignore it anymore. I had it checked out by a cardiologist and had a 24 hour tape, where they record your heart activity for 24 hours. I was having frequent ventricular ectopics, which is common and nothing to worry about, but because of the increased blood volume during pregnancy I was feeling them quite strongly.
I know it's not the same, but for me it wasn't anything serious, but I'm glad I got it checked out. I would tell your ob or midwife and they can refer you to a cardiologist if they think it needs investigating.
Good luck!
