DOnt like her teacher but wont change her classroom?

I am having issue after issue with DD's kindy teacher but the assisstant principle said the classes are full and we cant change her.

what else can i do other than pull her out of school (which i dont want to do).

the latest incident her teacher is accusing her of biting another child (which he did not witness - a 6th grader told a teacher who told her teacher).
DD said she didnt and i believe her and he said that 6th graders dont lie and he believes DD is, and that she started crying as a way of getting him to believe her


im sorry but a teacher who says this about a 4 year old doesnt feel like a supportive teacher.

If your unhappy with the treatment of your child or how the situation has been handled speak to the education department.

I had issues with the kids school and even when I took it print outs of the ed departments policy they still fobbed me off and pulled the whole "we'll look into it and get back to you", that didnt sit well with me so called up spoke to someone and it was sorted the next day.

I agree re Ed Dept. as a parent you need to feel comfortable with who teaches your child. I doubt the classes are full, it's a common excuse.

If your daughter isn't happy/comfortable with her teacher it will impact on her learning.

Actually it's also quite common for classes to be full. To be honest, if every parent who had an issue with teachers were able to move their child to another class, it would be extremely problematic for the school system, so yes, it may be an excuse they use to prevent this happening too much.

Have you spoken to the teacher about what you are unhappy about? There should be a greivance procedure in place if you aren't happy with the outcome.

I agree with this. You need to organise to meet with your child's teacher and their direct supervisor or Principal to talk over your concerns.

yep it has been going on for 4 weeks.
i brought the asst principle in on it as i felt nothing was being done.
now what i was raising ie - her playing in the senior playground at lunch not junior is causing problems, and i was dismissed being told my daughter must be confused who she is playing with!
there is a long list of other issues.

ie, wouldnt help get her hat off a hook so she was made to sit out of playtime, no name on her desk or hook for a whole month after she started.
left out of activities because she wasnt on the class list, she didnt know where to line up as her teacher isnt there when the bell goes (early days), a girl stabbed her in the arm with a pencil, a boy spat at her and has been threatening to bite her since - since found out this is why she doesnt want to play in the junior yard becasue of this boy

Make and appointment and speak with the Principal, discuss your concerns with them, if you are not satisfied that the issue will be dealt with, contact the Education Department and take it further.

Hon, after all those instances, if they wont do anything honestly I would pull her from that school. Seriously if they cannot get thrings done right which sounds like they cant and they have added to your DD confusion about the hat re the hook etc, she shouldnt be treated like that at all, honestly I would pull my DD from that school if it was happening at her Kinder at the moment. The treatment you mentioned thats happened is wrong on so many levels. It really needs to be told to the ED department to be addressed too. I feel though they are not taking your DD or yourself seriously, if they arent who can you speak to? Go straight to the principal hon and Ed dept.

I would of pulled her out already.

Put your concerns in writing and also document your current contact with staff so far and their response (or lack of) Email your letter to the school and CC your local education district. Call the school if you need contact details for them, ask for the name and email of the person at district office in charge of your school (we have SED's in NSW) Give them a time frame to respond to your concerns and indicate or give ideas of what you'd like to see happen moving forward. Also indicate that if your concerns are not addressed to your satisfaction you will take your concerns further. It sounds like your school has a "culture" of poor response to parent concerns (of course I only have your experience to say this and you may have come across the particularly ineffective saff members). Im a teacher and I hate it when other schools/teachers let our "team" down!

update:
i met with the principle today.
he had a meeting and it is still he said she said with the children and the biting incident.

most of the meeting he watched my childrens behaviour (they were walking around, fighting, DD even climbed on the principles chair at his computer_ while we talking.
He kept asking how i am ,

am i coping?
are the children like this all the time
why dont they understand the rights and wrongs in authority
do i have any help
do they fight
do they listen

etc

i felt like i was being physcho analysed.

Omg hon pull your kid out of that school report all of them to to Ed I'm horrified that u have been treated this way. Where do u want to go from here

i dont have much faith in the public system were we are, and im not sure i can get her into the catholic school until 2013!

i just hate the thought that to be asking these types of questions rather than discussing their school policies, they have been talking amongst each other and put me in the 'crackpot' bag! :(

I think unless a teacher saw biting happening then they can't really take the word of another student.

I would feel very upset too.

your right shanti. a teacher didnt see it, the 6th grader told a teacher ashley did and she is being blamed for it although she told that teacher, her teacher and the princple she didnt. poor girl

Report that school to the Dept of Ed and get her out of there, the behaviour of both the teacher and the principal is unacceptable.

Hi Hun, sorry u r going through this. I am a teacher in a catholic school. I would definitely call them. I work in SA and we certainly have enrolments during the year as necessary. Give them a call and good luck xx
