Has anyone taken raspberry leaf in their pregnancy/s? Has it helped or made a difference that you have noticed?
My mum swears by it, as do all my aunties so i am taking it now (dont want to let the team down lol). Just wondered if anyone has had any experience with it (good or bad?)
I took it and will definitely use it next time! I took the tabs though, much better than drinking the tea all day! I think it helped. Had a natural straight fwd well progressing labour.
Yep I too believe it worked amazingly for me. My contractions were intense and productive, I had a 6 hour labour, I didn't even need to push, my body did it for me. Definitely will take it again, I used to love having a cup of it and then feel the BH's go :)
i used it last pg and this time. i was induced last time (because of gd) but my labour progressed well and while it was an assisted delivery i didnt need a csection - which considering it was my first baby & i was induced before he was anywhere near ready (imo), i think it was a good result.
im booked in again for an induction but am pretty sure im in early labour now & i dont think the rlt has hindered me.

Sloane: Was your GD bad and thats why they induced? I have GD too so i was hoping the RL would help. My levels are great at the moment but OB says it is still likely they will induce when they check at 38 weeks. Sorry for being naive but is assisted delivery with the suction? Really would love to hear your experience!
I drank RLT in both my pregnancies and although I don't know for sure if it was the RLT that worked so well, I do believe it helped....
First labour 9 hours total from first little niggle to DD being born although it was a difficult posterior labour. I had SROM with her.
Second labour SROM again followed by a almost 3 hours of nothing then a very fast and intense 37 minute labour :D

my GD needed insulin so that's why they like to induce - there is a very small risk of increased stillbirth once you go over 40 weeks if you are on insulin (well, that's how it was explained to me). with my first PG i refused to be induced before the 40 weeks and opted for regular monitoring instead. that kept everyone happy!! once i got to the pushing stage my DS' heart rate wasn't recovering as they would have liked & they wanted him out right away. they gave me an epidural so i was prepped for an emergency c-section if required but the ob tried suction & then forceps and he was able to get DS out with the forceps. there's a lot of good info on the site about inductions & what can happen as a result. they definitely carry an increased risk of intervention & especially for a first time birth. i have no basis for whether or not RLT helped me, but i figured it wasn't going to hurt & why not give it a go.:
miss e - yes - eeeek! we're all sick so i know that can bring on contractions but i've lost some of my plug & have been having contractions for about 30 secs at a time every 5-10 mins for a few hours.
How early should you start taking RL tabs?? Is 30 weeks too early? Might have to consult dr google!
I took it last time in tablet form from 36 weeks and about to start at 36+3 tonight and I ended up drug free with AROM last time and about 9 3/4 hr labour at about 38wks; hoping for a similar experience this time.
Last time I'm pretty sure I researched it and it was recommended not to start before 35/36 weeks as it may contribute to early labour.

at what gestation do you girls recommend starting to take it?
I drank the tea from about 30 weeks and took tablets from 34 or 35 weeks.
Not entirely sure how much it helped, (all of my labours were different) but I certainly had very efficient contractions, every 5 minutes right up until she was born. And I spent most of my labour on my back in bed :doh:
- ETA as an added bonus I believe it assists in milk production. I didn't take the tablets after Pie was born but I did drink the tea.
I took the tablets from around 34 weeks. I believe they helped, my mum was really impressed as well. Was weird as none of my family had heard of them. I was induced (being 10 days over), very progressive 5 hour labour without assistance. Will definitely be taking them this time around again.
I started from 32 weeks with both pregnancies. I didn't mind the flavour of the tea so I bought a good quality leaf and brewed my own and made it strong!:
I had heard of it in my previous pregnancy but never used it - I'm planning on using it this time because I really *REALLY* want a natural birth.
Where do you get it from? I know the tablets are at the chemist - is this tea just from Coles?

Ash - i bought the tea from a health food shop.
I also wanted to pop back & update my previous post. I was in early labour last friday - over fri afternoon/sat morning my contractions stayed around 7-10mins apart but when i went into the hospital around 1.30pm on sat i was already 7cm. Even though the contractions i had at home werent that close together, they all lasted for around 1m. I have no idea if the rlt helped but it certainly doesnt seem to have hurt :)

Ash - you can get tablets from blackmores and other vitamin companies at your local pharmacy and I have ordered tea online from a pregnancy website. I'm going to have the tablets this time round because I didn't like the tea much first time round.
