Easter egg hunt

How do you do yours?

I grew up with my Nanna making a treasure hunt for the grandkids - we had to find clues and figure it out before we found our stash. It was great fun.

We'll have 6 kids here for Easter Sunday lunch aged between 2 and 6 that I want to have hunt organised for - I've been looking online for inspiration and it seems the most common way to do it is just hide them all around the garden and let the kids have a free for all lol

We do the free for all then share them out fairly. We tend to have an extra basket for the adults to share as I love hiding lots of eggs for the fun of the hunt but it's heaps more than the kids need to eat.

We go camping for easter and the easter bunny leaves eggs out for the hunt.
That normally entales me getting up to go 'wee' and running around early in the morning placing eggs while DP tries to stop the girls from looking outside.
Then it's a free for all and when the girls aren't looking we even the numbers our a little :)

We're going to take a series of pictures of things in the house and outside - one set for each girl. They'll start off with a picture of say a Dora DVD, so will have to go and find it - where it belongs so they'd better tidy up!!! - where there will be maybe a tiny egg and a picture to the next location. Some of them will be really easy, but others we can make more difficult. We've got a combination of eggs and little prizes like stickers, colouring books etc along the way

At the moment are just free for all by hiding them outside (and making it even inside). This year should be interesting it will be the first year that DD will actually have competition. As the kids get older the hiding places will get harder and harder. DH's family still do the hunt for our eggs and oh my lordie some of the places my FIL hides them are crazy. He's been know to hide them in sugar canisters, inside pianos, under the verandah, in the ducted vacuum vents, climbs trees, inside saucepans in the cupboards and the list goes on and on.

I'd love to do an Easter egg hunt for DS but with him not talking and understanding a lot, I don't see the point

I would do it anyways DD - you don't know exactly how much he is understanding. He'd probably love it!!

I haven't done an Easter egg hunt with DS as yet, but I think I'll do one this year :) I've never done one before so no idea how to do it!!

I would do it too DD he will probably love finding them outside in the grass, all the pretty colours!

We are going to be in the bush again, last year I had to distract the kids while dh put them out as it wasn't possible to do it the night before with the wildlife.

It's worth a shot DD, just put them where he can see them and make a big deal out of it :)

historically, the Easter Bunny has pretty much just tossed them around on the floor (gently of course!) and left a trail outside. This year he is going to get a bit more creative and leave them in harder to find places.... I wish I had a yard so I could put them under plants etc...
