1 month old has a cold *sob*

My newborn has a cold!

DS1 has had an infection which has basically cleared up with a course of antibiotics, I've had a virus (which I'm still trying to get over) and now DS2 has got a cold!

He's not too bad - he has a cough but is not coughing much in his sleep (less than once every 15 minutes), he has a snotty nose but it's not running much (and Fess didn't clear it or get anything out, so we're leaving it for now ...), his appetite is reduced but he's still eating and wetting 6-8 times a day, he has no fever, and he doesn't appear to be in any pain ... his throat sounds a little hoarse, but it's hard to say whether it's his throat or his larynx or whether it's just mucousy in there ...

One serious spew, but just the one ...

He's basically wanted to be cuddled all day, but I managed to get him settled in the bouncer and get a bit of housework done ...

I just hate seeing my little boys sick :(

I hope he's not too miserable, and that we're all completely better in the morning!

Am deciding whether to duck out to the chemist to pick up some vicks vapour rub to pop on his feet ... or whether to give it another day to see if it clears on its own ...

That really sucks :( Poor little fellow.

DS 2 was the same. DS1 helpfully passed everything on that he picked up at childcare. It's so yuk seeing them so little and miserable.

We kept the vaporiser running and rubbed euky bear on his feet.

oh I hate that! that's what happens when you've got older siblings. I hope it passes for you soon :hug:

We have the same going on here at the moment. DD3 has her first cold. Im so sad for her, and I cant stand seeing her feeling yucky.
First colds are always the hardest :(

we don't have a vapouriser, but I had a nice hot shower with one DS and then the other, to steam them out a bit ... doesn't seem to have helped after the event, but we got loads of crap out of DS1's nose while in there, so hopefully it will help a bit ...

I've also put some breast milk on DS2's eyes, as they were a little gungy.

I do have a closer carrier sling thing so can wear him if needed, but I was able to settle him in the glider and the bouncer for a while to get some housework done ... I tucked him in nice and tight and he settled reasonably well, and then slept for a while ...

his temp has been nice and steady - my boys both take after DH and have low temps (around the 35.5-36.5 mark) and DS2 has stayed around there, which is fine.

it's tough when you're the one who is sick: trying to breastfeed without breathing on bubba? still not sure how to do that ... maybe I need some of those sexy facemasks ... ?

Under 12 weeks. We had a significant temp in DS2 when he was 10 weeks. Turned out to be viral meningitis :(

If you are ever worried head to the Royal Children's Hospital. At this age you will be seen straight away, no matter what time.

he's still fast asleep in his little glider, bless his cotton socks...

we'll keep taking his temp every nappy change, and keep feeding him every time he looks at me sideways ...

he's not drinking heaps though, so I'm expressing lots, to keep my supply up. and I'm drinking lots too, to make sure that I stay hydrated ...

he hasn't coughed in over half an hour, but it sounds really dreadful when he does it ... :(

Poor little man. :( I hate it when the tiny ones are sick - you just can't tell what they need or what hurts. When my babies have had stuffed noses and had a hard time drinking, I found a few drops of saline (you can buy it, or make your own with 1 c warm water and 1/2 tsp salt) in the nose helped clear things out enough for them to nurse.

Hope he's feeling back to normal soon!

DS2 seems to be feeling a little better ... he fed at 10am, 3am, 7.30am and he hasn't been coughing too much :)

he's still snotty and coughing and sounding a bit wet, still not pooing but plenty of wet nappies, and still feeding regularly albeit smaller feeds, and no temperature.
