Still hurting at 14 weeks

Hi all,

Attachment still hurts quite a lot for the first 20 seconds or so. Is this normal at 14 weeks? Kind of getting over the pain!

Could it be letdown you're feeling?
Have you seen an LC? Been checked for thrush, infection, vasospasm....?

I've just searched through old posts to try and find one I did around the same time for DD for the same problem.

I can't find it and I can't exactly remember but I think someone mentioned almost like a 'drawing through' pain, because we'd ruled out everything else. It wasn't long (a few weeks or so) before I just realised one day that it had stopped and never happened again.

I agree, those first 20 seconds or so were awful but otherwise feeding was fine. I hope it passes for you soon and sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I had vasospasms, was monitoring it, can't remember what the LC suggested to help, I have a feeling it was magnesium or similar? ABA should be able to help there.

Was bub checked for tongue tie?

Have you called ABA? 1800 mum2mum

Could be a very slight positioning Problem causing the attachment pain. Have you gone back to the early days and looked at your positioning?

SOmetimes little attachment problems become more of an issue as bub gets a stronger mouth.
We had to go to breastfeeding day stay at 3 months - I found out that I wasn't getting enough of the underside of my nipple into DSs mouth....

What does your nipple look like after a feed - is it nipply shaped or odd-shaped?
