My Baby Shower has been organised for in a couple of weeks, and i keep getting asked what i need.
Thing is i dont really know. I mean the obvious is nappies, wipes, bath items etc. Is there anything i am missing? First baby so i am a bit lost...that and i feel awkward people asking me instead of the person organising it because tbh i dont care if they dont bring a gift because thats not the point of it for me.
Is there anything that you have received though and thought was great or necessary??
I would never have thought of it myself, but I was given a trolley seat cover and it's fantastic! That's the only thing I can think of right that was really good lol. Oh and a huge piggy bank, it's so cute and we put our spare change in there for DD.
I really got a huge pile of stuff I never used. I use cloth nappies so the boxes of infant disposables were wasted. As were the hundreds of Johnsons baby wash/moisturiser/powder things we were given because I'm not a fan of J&J.
Oh, I also really appreciated the toys, we got a play gym/mat which I didn't have, and a few things for when she was older that she loves.

Weirdly enough the best things I got given weren't for the baby - I got a filtered sports water bottle, some lovely hand cream (washing hands after the umpteenth nappy change that day made my skin quite dry) and a few other little indulgey type things. We also got a few little keepsakes like a hand knitted teddy bear, a quilted play rug and so on from our crafty friends that we cherish.
Also useful if people are asking what to get for you is clothes in the next size/season from birth. Everyone loves buying the teeny little baby clothes and you'll get heaps, but it can be so handy to have a few of the next size or cooler/warmer stuff on hand as necessary for sudden weather changes or "oh crap nothing fits" moments

If you're planning on breastfeeding, how about mention to someone that you'd love a subscription to the ABA?
Looking back, I wish I'd thought to ask for some baby carriers for my shower. My aunties wanted to spoil me silly but I couldn't think of anything and ended up with a bunch of blankets and a baby monitor I hardly use. Neither are really needed since I bedshare :-/ And carriers are damn expensive if you don't know what kind suit you - if they're gifts you can pop them on eBay or whatever and spend the money on something that does suit you ;)
I wish someone hired a cleaner for me to come once a week for a few weeks lol

I love my little mans ergo cocoon swaddles. I didn't get as gifts but bought myself when he was born - they are fantastic it keeps him wrapped but he can't get out of it. My little guy is such a wriggler in bed and could get out of any wrap! They are so useful! I have two because he does sometimes wet through nappy so I can change mid night if I need!
I also got a infasecure change table caddy that is awsome. A bit of a "unnecessary" expense at $50 bu it is so handy not having to bend down under the change table every two seconds tiger things.
Oh and I agree with ck - I also asked for bigger size things. It is so great to still have gifts for him that he hasn't used yet.
Oh and books? We already have a good library of books and he loves me reading to him and looking at all the colours in the book.
A vaporiser would be a good group gift.
